I'd hardly call "Animal" artsy. Pop rock is more like it, maybe power pop if you want to push it. It's a fun song, but definitely not "artsy."
Hell, now that I think of it, it sounds like an Avril Lavigne song but with less obnoxious singing.
Maybe the rest of their output is more artistic, I don't know since that's the only song I know by them, but "Animal" is pure pop.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I'm really talking relatively here. I mean, compared to Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel, or even Radio Head, Neon Trees is pure pop.
On the pop charts, it's more of an artsy song.
ADHD? Bitch please, those are battle instincts!Eh, even then it doesn't strike me as too artsy at all.

I was just as shocked. Over here the word is changed to "messed", but I mean, the actual song is still explicit.
Then again, we're starting to see more of these artsy types of songs anyways with Animals by Neon Trees, Someone That I Used To Know, We Are Young, and Adele popping up on the charts.
