There's a Belarusian language? New one on me. Here, of course, people's first language is either Hebrew (if you're of Jewish descent) or Arabic. Most people know English at some level, and a lot of the Olim know other languages — a friend of mine speaks Russian fluently, another speaks Amharic, etc.

As it is in a few english dominant countries, over here it's rare for people to have a second language. Which is a shame, I wouldn't have minded learning a second language in school.

This is fascinating stuff, but if brings to mind an old saying:

"A man that speaks three languages is multilingual. A man that speaks two languages is bilingual. A man that speaks one language is English."

And it is so very true. Most of the time. tongue

Unless you live in China. Or in some Arab countries.

Just think: Had I the attention span, I could have had french as a second language. Instead, I can only greet people, as their names, tell them to go faster, recite the alphabet, recite the calendar, and count to twenty. Not exactly stuff you can carry a conversation with.

"There's a Belarusian language?"

Yeah, it somehow formed and survived through the constant swirl of uniting into something or other Eastern Europe had going for last millennium.

Every country has it's own language in the end, but the exact territories (and who was in charge and even who was who in those ancient unions...) are a big arguing spot.

What does it sound like? I'm assuming it sounds close to Russian?

Yeah, it is rather close. Most common mistakes in Belarusian language class were when somebody used grammar from Russian without noticing :D

What, you were asking it as "what should I avoid"? :D In that case I shall tell you that author is named Zenith Lee and around 50% of his work are so very damn much worse than this avatar...

At first I was like "What are you talking about des?" Then I saw the blood. It seems like a very sad picture.

^^And the title.
And yes it is. It's place in "soul-crushingly depressing" pool on danbooru is fully deserved.

If you want to know what's happening in this pic, these are palm sized mermaids. They are caught enmasse in nets like common fish, are mangled without care in process and thrown into the ice-box to die slowly. The paler one is dead (or almost dead) after having her tail ripped off. There are many more of them in various states spread around.

^I was in quite a depressed mood when I made this one <.<

I've thought of something for Combo. In his source material, once you pull off a C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER! you can use these moves called Shadow Moves. Basically, when you do them, there's this silver trail behind the character and they do enhanced versions of some of their moves that move faster and hit harder. They're like EX Moves in Street Fighter or Enhanced Moves in Mortal Kombat 9. My idea is that at some point, maybe during the first boss fight, he learns how to do these moves.

I thought I'd post this in case someone wasn't sure. If Scott speaks to one character and then jumps to another, It's cause of who he is. I know it's seen as rude in the majority of R Ps to do this, So I thought I'd clear it up. If your character speaks to him after he moves away, he'll come straight back and answer. grin
