The new girl doesn't really affect Phyla's chances anyway, since IIRC, she wasn't even Quasar anymore when she died. They'd already brought back Wendell (for all the good it did him) when Thanos killed her.

She was Martyr with a spiffy skull sword and a bad attitude adjustment.

Her Martyr powerset was kind of vague though, aside from owning a sword.

And then she diiiiiied. Kind of pointlessly.

Wendell's reasons for giving up his former life and the bands make no sense. It's really OOC.

All the lines sounds more like something Genis would say(wasn't he killed off in a Thunderbolts issue?).

Edit:[up] Her power set was her old Nega-Bands/Captain Marvel one only this time the sword was physical.

Today!

Ms. Marvel #6 is amazing. It just gets increasingly ridiculous, until it climaxes with The Greatest Splash Page Ever. So great! So fun! Captain Marvel's cameo was great, too, and I do love that the book teaches valuable lessons. It's the perfect YA superhero comic.

Wolverine #7 is just . . . it's perfect. It's everything I could have wanted in a Wolverine/Squirrel Girl team-up, and so much more. From the time Squirrel Girl shows up, holding a wolverine and shouting "Wolverine!" I could not stop smiling. It is delightful and amazing and I love it. I love Squirrelverine. It doesn't get better than that.

Squirrel Girl #7 is so much fun! It's the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure issue! And it's great! One thing I love about this series, though, is that it's also educational. There's lots of bee facts in this issue.

Angela #7 is a really sweet farewell. Very emotional. All about the love of these three women, and it's great.

Moon Girl #6 is great. Lunella's such a great character. Vulnerable little girl, but also badass action hero. That final panel in this issue is at once one of the most adorable things ever, and one of the saddest.

Hellcat #5 is a delight. It's so much fun. And so optimistic and positive. I also like Ian rescuing She-Hulk from another spilled coffee. Jen getting things spilled on her was a fun running gag, and this was a nice use of Rule of Three. I also like Ian pointing out that he's not gullible. And the Hedy plot becomes even more interesting!

Ultimates #6 is great. It's weird, and it's really smart and cerebral, and really interesting. I'm not a fan of Ward's art. But the story is fascinating stuff.

Old Man Logan #5 is gorgeous. But Lemire makes two pretty notable mistakes to a Canadian. First, he writes "Northwest Territory." It's Northwest Territories". Plural. The other mistake is even more unforgivable: He says NWT shares a border with Alaska. It does not. The Yukon Territory shares a border with Alaska. Come on, Lemire, you're Canadian, you should know this. Other than that, though, this is good. It does the same parallel-timeline thing he did in Hawkeye, comparing and contrasting events in the present and the future (which, in this case, is also kinda the past, because time travel).

Star-Lord #6 is really good. A really good Kitty/Peter issue about their feelings on the break-up, and their lingering feelings for each other. There's also this line from Kitty: "I took down the Brood all by myself! As a teenager!" She really has led the most interesting life, hasn't she? And oh my Thor we see her amazing awful roller-blade costume yes yes I love it. It's a good comic.

Standoff Omega was good. Kraven talking to Kobik was the highlight, just for how bizarre it was. I'm not keen on the idea that Quasar was losing control of his power. That feels off. He's not the type to lose control. On the other hand, there is a callback to Teen Tony, with Iron Man saying he once got de-aged. But then Ms. Marvel makes a comment about Steve still being kinda old. Again, no, that's off. I can see Nova or Miles making that joke, but not Kamala, who would be too busy trying not to fangirl. But Steve gives an epic speech on getting back to fighting evil and saving lives . . . just in time for Civil War II, but oh well. I also feel like the narration about the Avengers being a family is bullshit. They're not. That's never been what the Avengers are about. They're friends, they're comrades. As far as the new Quasar goes, I find it hard to care. It'll depend on who her creative team is. But we've got enough awesome female heroes now that I can afford not to be excited about this one. Plus, while I like most of the costume, I don't dig the bare shoulders. They look off, somehow. The cape is the best part of the costume. The starfield! Yeah, overall, mixed feelings on the story, though I liked all the humour.

Spider-Woman #6 is good. Jesse Drew's wife was really good. I liked her. Jessica was hilarious, as well. And Reed Richards built an inter-dimensional portal out of Lego.

Squadron Supreme #6 is good. The story's advancing well, and there's a lot of good character stuff going on. It's nice getting more insight on Dr. Spectrum.

Wolverine #7 It's kinda hard to imagine Logan saying that line about sandwiches. It felt like suddenly everyone got Doreen's dialogue.

Squirrel Girl #7 is incredibly confusing in digital format, but it's such an awesome spin on "villain shows up, normal powers don't work, so hero has to resolve conflict with creative solution" structure that I still enjoyed it.

Oh yeah, Amazing Spider-Man #11. Otto is just as bad at hiding inside Living Brain as he was at hiding inside Spider-Man.

I still can't understand how you were supposed to buy the Titans as a threat. Thor, hell, Spidey would have cleaned up the entire attack in ten minutes.

The ending for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is sadder after BC found out Lunella wasn't meant to be Inhuman at all. I guess I can't be mad; when it was X-Men selling like hotcakes everyone was a mutant...

[up][up] Don't knock the Titans short. While many heroes would be out of their power-level they are still a threat. Their pretty strong & surprisingly fast, many people have swinging like Spidey died cause they thought they were too fast only to suddenly get grabbed or bitten in the air. Also there's the psychological component, even if you don't think their scary the Titans are still just fucking creepy creatures with a great deal of uncanny valley in effect meaning you'll at least be constantly on guard cause its so disturbing seeing their gross faces nonchalantly devouring people. Don't forget the abnormal's or big meat like the Armored Titan or Colossus Titan which are physical threats. I mean while the Heroes can stomp them there's prolly gonna be a good deal of casualties especially from lower-tier heroes.

[up][up] It turned out for the best, because her fear of becoming an Inhuman was a really effective element of this first arc.

We already saw this in JLA/Avengers.

And its not even remotely a fair matchup anyway.

[up] Most matchups at Death Battle aren't remotely fair...

Though I respect them for never putting popular character first just cuz they're popular or letting potential flame wars change their decision. When Spider-Man beat Batman on the show, they've earned my respect.

[up]The fact that Spider-man won is about the only thing they got right in that fight. Spider-man's spider sense did not trigger off multiple sources that normally would do so, Batman was shown having the advantage in hand-to-hand and surviving several hits despite Spider-man not holding back (per death battle rules), he had outside help, traps set up in advance and Spidey was just portrayed as far weaker and slower than he should have been.

[up] Well, that was just for the sake of making an interesting fight. Spider-Man punching Batman once and crushing his head then walking away whistling wouldn't make for the most entertaining viewing. I mean for most people. I would nominate that for a freaking Oscar, personally.

So would I, and I also don't think that those inaccuracies were necessary for the fight to be entertaining. Batman was basically ragdolling Spidey the entire fight, it wasn't entertaining any way.
