In that case, does this mean we're all Catholic? Or maybe Jewish?

I will forever curse Remender's name for deciding to bring back Sentry over Ares.
I think it was just because he wanted characters with a connection to death. And yeah Ares would have worked too, but I guess they needed a flyer who could tear his face off.
Huh. Seems we only know fifty ANADM books at the moment. There's supposed to be at least ten more, right?
The original Sentry miniseries was well-received. It's Bendis' take on the character that people hated. Shocking, I know.
What I'm wondering is when Marvel will announce books written by people of colour. They've got Greg Pak on TA Hulk. And then . . . that's it. The hip-hop variant covers have gotten people talking about the lack of diversity among creators at Marvel, so I'm wondering how long it's going to take Marvel to actually address that criticism in a way beyond saying it's a discussion worth having. Of course it's a discussion worth having, but you know what else is a discussion worth having? "Oh, hey, this writer who's a black man seems pretty good, and I look forward to his work on this Marvel title." So let's see how long it takes Marvel to cut the bullshit and allow that discussion to take place.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I'd give... maybe not my right leg, but a couple toenails for New X-Men. And the Reckoning War.
C'mon guys. I'll even pull them out myself.
Marvel writers and artists tend to be frustratedly overwhelmingly white but after they got spanked by Tumblr after Brevoort's statement I think they'll look at other artists. Sanford Greene is currently drawing Runaways (he's from SC like me!) and I hope he'll stay.
I would give a kidney for another New Mutants/New X-Men book, but I have the feeling that Marvel isn't going to want to expand the X-line beyond the 5-ish books. I know SOMEBODY has a fresh take on those kids.
Yeah DC is really beating Marvel at having more than just white guys making books.

I think it's because Marvel tends to take a lot from their existing pool of writers, who tend to be white, rather than looking for new blood.
For instance, the new Cyborg book from DC is written by David Walker, who hasn't written any DC books before, but has written the Shaft book for Dynamite which got really good reviews.
Two new writers for Marvel are Tara Butters and Michelle Fazekas for Captain Marvel, which pretty much everyone has said was a great idea.

Marvel's generally been pretty good at hiring minorities for artists. Olivier Coipel has been one of their top artists over the past few years, and I'm pretty sure they've had others. But for black writers? Felipe Smith wrote All-New Ghost Rider - a book which, if we're honest, was never really intended to be a big success - but we don't know if he'll be staying past Secret Wars.
Hamburger: no way we'll get another New X-Men book. We should, but we won't. For one thing, it's pretty clear the X-office is focusing intensely on the classic X-Men - the original team, and the original ANADXM. And then ANXM already fills the niche of a book of young mutant heroes. So the New X-Men cast - along with the New Mutants, Generation X, the students of the New Xavier School, and really any mutant character created later than 1975 - are going to continue to be thoroughly ignored. Aside from Laura, who gets a pass for being a female version of a classic character.
It's frustrating.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Actually, Spider-Man and the X-Men included a bunch of recent mutant students and that just ended prior to Secret Wars, so I'm not sure yet if it's going to come back. It was also hilarious, so I hope it does.
I doubt they'll bring back Spider-Man and the X-Men. They may - may, possibly, potentially, in theory - have a book focused on the school. But honestly? I doubt they will. The very distinct impression I'm getting, from what the X-office has revealed so far, is: "They're less than 40 years old? Fuck 'em." Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I really don't think there's any support from the X-office editors right now to bother with anyone who isn't a classic X-Man. Lemire was asked about the school, and he evaded the question. And that's about the only time it's been brought up.
As someone who vastly prefers the younger characters over the older ones, it's so damned annoying. I want to see these characters get some love, and Marvel seems dead-set on ignoring them.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I'm reminded of the one parody comic http://allnewmutants.tumblr.com/post/29085538792/x-men-next-generation-by-magickmaker-sigh . just add one/two more panels with aaron and bendis's new mutants after hope.
Probably something like, "Shit, I'm not even gonna bother learning your faces."
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Yeah, at first glance I thought they had made a mistake, and it was actually the Deadpool character.
@New Mutants: If Fox and Disney were on speaking terms we would probably get a new book so they could promote the future movie later. They aren't so we will only get the books we now have.
It's discussion topics like this that make me sad Morrison didn't get the 17-year run he wanted.
I mean, they are currently doing an E for Extinction book for Secret Wars, so it's not like they are doing nothing with those characters. And they haven't even announced all of the post-SW books yet.
Wolverine & the X-Men has done a fantastic job of making me cease to give any shits about the younger mutant characters.
Most of the X-kids I love were killed off immediately after Decimation or promoted to appear with the regular X-crews, like Rockslide and Mercury, and the newer class is just so dull. Brood, Eye Boy, Quire, that gelatinous dude who wants to be a Card-Carrying Villain...meh.
At this point, it's hard to begrudge the X-Office for focusing on the more successful, established characters until they can get some more new mutants who are actually worth reading about.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Found an old article where he talks about his run and leaving. IIRC he was also told by Marvel that he had to kill Jean at the end since they didn't want her to be so strong that she could solve every plot after he left(IIRC he said it in a interview a few years back when asked why she died so quickly).

Thanks! I had heard about that but it's nice to have a source.
I've also heard he got into a snit with (Marvel's then-president) Bill Jemas after editorial wanted to do something with the Noh-Varr Marvel Boy that he didn't like, and that was another reason he left. Never seen a source on that though.

Have you read Spider-Man and the X-Men? Because that book kind of addresses all those problems and is awesome. It's about Spider-Man becoming a "special guidance counselor" to a special class at the Jean Grey School, with Rockslide, Hellion, Glob, Sharkgirl, No-Girl, and Ernst.
All the students are pretty awesome and hilarious and none of them are one-dimensional.
I have, and while Rockslide and Hellion continue to be engaging - which is to be expected, they're last-gen mutants slumming it with the boring new generation, and the last-gen cast was pretty awesome - Glob and No-Girl continue to be one-note characters, Sharkgirl is defined entirely by her nameHEY , and Ernst isn't even a character, she's a recurring joke - not unlike Doop, another terrible character comprised entirely of a single joke repeated endlessly since WATXM started.

Because we haven't suffered enough?
(Though I hear that Sentry mini the new one is from wasn't that bad)
