I'll at least give Marvel credit for only including the Inhumans that people actually like. wink

But yeah, the lack of Deadpool, Wovlerine, Cyclops, Laura is pretty damning.

Headliners of record-breaking movies & because Marvel doesn't own them they basically don't give a shit.

The stars of all the shows we got can make an appearance but everyone else nope, they can go fuck themselves.

Also that image of Robbie makes me angry cause Marvel fucked up his second series with that Godawful New Fantastic Four homage.

September solicit thoughts!

Holy shit that Alex Ross cover. Holy shit. MS. MARVEL AND MOON GIRL DRAWN BY ALEX ROSS HOLY SHIT. The Amy Reeder cover's nice, too. And the Land one is Land.

Iron Man Generations has art by Marco Rudy? Damn. That's gonna be an interesting issue. Marco Rudy is one hell of an artist.

Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel Generations looks fun. Kamala as an intern at Woman Magazine? That's a pretty great premise.

Looks like Smasher's going to be in US Avengers, nice. And I like that the solicit doesn't even try to convince the reader Cannonball's dead. "No one ever found Cannonball’s body — and we all know what that means..."

That Asgard Falling variant cover for Thor is bitchin'. I love it.

Totally Awesome Hulk #23's cover is a pretty great homage to the classic Hulk Annual cover, when he fought the Inhumans.

Hulk #10's cover has her being very intense about a doughnut.

Magdalene Visaggio is doing a Venomized Rocket Raccoon story for Venomverse! Yay for her! When's Marvel just going to go ahead and give her an ongoing?

Scarlet Spider is bringing back the Slingers? Huh.

Black Bolt #5's cover has Baby Black Bolt and Baby Lockjaw, so it's a good cover.

Oh hey, Moon Girl's going to be meeting Moon Boy? Interesting. I've always wondered if he'd show up again. Hopefully, he doesn't become a part of the book's ongoing cast, because I always thought he was an annoying little prick.

Royals is going to have some romance. A part of me kinda wants it to be Medusa and Maximus, just because it'd be hilarious. But I'm guessing Noh-Varr and probably Crystal.

Iron Fist vs. a Canadian Murder Cult? I . . . can actually get behind that. That sounds really fun.

As always, Squirrel Girl gets the best solicit: "Squirrel Girl, Nancy and Tippy are trapped in the Savage Land! Good thing there’re only regular dinosaurs there and not, for example, a giant metal killer-dinosaur version of Ultron instead!! • Sorry, I’m just getting word that there is, in fact, a giant metal killer-dinosaur version of Ultron here, and Squirrel Girl needs to stop him before he takes over the world — a task that has regularly bested many other super heroes, including the Avengers themselves! • But don’t worry, because SQUIRREL GIRL IS NOT ALONE: She’s got Nancy (a regular human with no powers) and Tippy (a regular squirrel with no powers) on her side to help her out against the rage of Ultron! • And it’s not just any Ultron, but a new and improved Ultron with an extremely dangerous (and, we must admit, extremely awesome) Tyrannosaurus rex bod! • Oh, also Kraven the Hunter is in this issue too, so if you love dinosaurs, robots AND men in lion vests, boy howdy have we got a comic book for you!"

America #7's cover is a pretty great Springsteen homage. I like the homages of the America covers. Also: Annie Wu and Jen Bartel! Awesome!

Ooh, more Aneka and Ayo in Black Panther. Nice. And it'll actually be really interesting to see how they work with T'Challa.

X-Men Blue's Blondie variant cover is pretty sweet.

X-Men Gold has a rock variant by Mike Del Mundo? And I can't find a fucking image of it? You bastards! How is THAT the cover that doesn't actually get released yet? Gah! Anyway, who the hell is Anatoly Rasputin? Is that supposed to be Mikael? Is it a relative we've never seen?

Jean Grey vs. Scarlet Witch? That should be fun. I still wish we got more stories about Jean and Wanda hanging out as teens. Still, Hopeless is dragging this Phoenix shit out into a second arc. Jean is more than the Phoenix, and Teen Jean's entire purpose is about not being Adult Jean, so I'm really annoyed about this.

My September pull list: Black Bolt #5, Generation X #6, Hawkeye #10, All-New Wolverine #24, Generations Captain Marvel, Hulk #10, Ms. Marvel #22, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #24, America #7, Avengers #11, Generations Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage #5, US Avengers #10, Black Panther #18, Moon Girl #23, Captain Marvel #9. 16 issues. Light month for me.

What's his problem there? Marvel only has like one, two good legacy characters.

[up][up] And even that's apparently exaggerated, as I'm pretty sure I've read that he's drawn plenty of DC legacy characters.

It's certainly a never live it down thing, which I'm sure Ross has probably commented on (I think he once said that he didn't hate new characters or legacies, he simply enjoyed doing the most iconic versions of characters the most).

Kyle Rayner is usually brought up, even though Ross eventually did do a piece with him and '90s-era interpretations of other characters.

[up][up]He has. He did covers for Geoff Johns' JSA, which was like 90 percent legacy heroes.

He hates specific changes to characters, like Kyle Rayner replacing GL. But that largely seems to stem from the fact that DC took a massive fucking shit all over Hal Jordan and the other Green Lanterns to justify Kyle's existence, which quite understandably inspired bitterness. He also dislikes Nightwing, apparently, though he has drawn him.

Conversely, none of the Marvel heroes got screwed over nearly as badly as that when being replaced. Except for maybe Banner, and everyone knew from the start that was temporary.

And then I soured an already sour mood by reading some of the comments on the articles reporting it.

RE: Volstagg as the War Thor: Is Jason Aaron's Thor run a test of how much he can piss us off at this point? No hard feelings to anyone liking Jane!Thor or Volstagg!Thor (if there are any out there), but can't we have Odinson as the true Thor already?
