I think the guy at 1:44 covers how I feel about this rather nicely.

There's been talk over the years about CD Projekt's problems, like lack of proper management, inhuman hours and I think they even ran out of money several times. I think reality is catching up with them.

[up] I really hope that I won't have to say "You were the Chosen One!" to CD PROJEKT.

Honestly, I did think that the whole situation with CD PROJEKT before all the controversy was too good to be true.

A common comment is that they grew way too fast and therefore have no real structure. Some corporate governance experience could optimise them, but there's always the risk of profit driven development involved.

I'm not necessarily of the mind games as a service is a bad thing because there's a good way to do it and a bad way to do it.

Hitman (2017) was a game which everyone hated the seasonal pass element of it but it has consistently had material produced for it since production and people are still playing it for good reason. If they're planning that once they get Cyberpunk 2017 running to essentially make it a platform to continually release expansions for like Heart of Stone or Blood and Wine then it might actually be a spectacular idea.

A single-player version of World of Warcraft so to speak.

I'm hoping the Multiplayer element is a Grand Theft Online variant. Basically, the single player world is fine and the Multiplayer world is essentially the same setting but a completely different set of servers and plots.

[up] As much as it would be great, I highly doubt that will be the model CD PROJEKT might adopt. Especially if they go GTA V route, where they cancelled single-player content just for multiplayer (unless I'm wrong about that part).

True.

Well the thing about Blood and Wine was it was every bit as awesome as a full-fledged game.

Expansion after Expansion.

The Borderlands 2 model until they ran out of disc space.

Games as a service depends on the service. Loot boxes? Bugger off. New characters and missions - ok, lets see the quality. Whole regions - ok fine, you got me.

If they have a multiplayer component I can imagine it'd be co-op. so it could be classes (a la ME multiplayer) but if they then use that to provide background singleplayer elements, great.

I'd love a modular singleplayer - essentially a "setting" - into which they can just bolt on missions, characters etc. Like Shadowrun, except with a persistent actual "city" in the middle.

Their response. It's pretty awesome.

Remember, online elements could mean a lot of things, not just microtransactions or games as service.

So, the more that I think about it, the more likely I think Cyberpunk 2077 will have Roles as jobs which can be acquired in-game and will have an effect on the open world with their own storylines.

You want to be a Rockerboy then you learn how to be one by playing the clubs of the town and building a following or trashing rivals. You want to be a Solo, you get a corporate mercenary license and prove yourself to the companies.

"Keanu Gibson always wanted to be a Solo but found himself attracted to being a corporate executive instead."

I.e. like Skyrim did the School of Magi and the Companions and Dark Brotherhood.

Obviously just BETTER than the way they did that, perhaps restricting you to one role in-game.

What do you think?

[up] I really hope so. And that quests don't all just degenerate into combat (Because that's just default for the industry) - if they could get a Sleeping Dogs style karaoke game in that allowed you to do that, great.

But if they're going for a specific story, I fear that we may just MEET Rockerboys and you're the average cyberpunk protag - a man against THE MAN...

But a variety of job types would be good - allow you to craft what type of guy your char is.

CD Projekt RED will be at E3. This undoubtedly means they'll be showing off Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay.

Well they will be showing something off but I am certain hoping it is Cyberpunk 2077.

The studio has focused all of its efforts on Cyberpunk 2077. They bragged last year it was 3 times bigger than The Witcher 3.

Doesn't mean they don't have other side projects, merchandise, and other things they can show off. Again your making an assumption that doesn't have anything backing it yet other than they will be at E3.

That is exactly what I talking about. Despite being done with the Witcher and having moved significant numbers of staff over to work on Cyberpunk they were still working on other things as well such as Gwent. God save us from Gwent.

Though I am very hopeful that it is Cyberpunk and not something else. Something else is still a real possibility but I will hold out for Cyberpunk. If we had some sort of official confirmation that would be great.
