Yeah, they'd been slowly moving members over since May. And now that Witcher 3 is more or less done, they've moved almost the whole kit and kaboodle over.

Still not getting released til 2017. (sigh)

Inside sources say Cyberpunk 2077 may be coming in late 2016... :D

Really wish they would say something about its status. I'm getting real antsy.

I'm in no hurry. The longer they take, the better the quality.

That's NOT always true. There are a number of games that can be used as an example of that. Duke Nukem Forever comes to mind.

That's probably due to the IP being tossed around between developers for years and no singular vision for the design existing until the last minute.

CD Projekt Red doesn't have that issue: while they didn't originally create the IP, they're the ones that announced it, and they're still the ones developing it. And since the company doesn't seem to be in danger of shrinking (in fact, after Witcher 3 I'd say they're gonna be growing) the future seems good for Cyberpunk 2077.

Ok. True, being passed between a dozen developers over 15 years probably didn't help. However, having a long development time doesn't correlate to quality.

DNF didn't pass between 15 Devs, it had 2, 3d realm and Gearbox

It just lacked a design document and such kept being re-design with no final idea of what they wanted the end product to be. Besides other issues.

I said 15 years, not 15 devs and the 'dozen' was an exageration. Though, when I read that, I was thinking 'visions' or ideas that were developing into the game rather than development teams. But this is getting into semantics.

I don't mind games with long development cycles. By all means, take as much time as you need. I just like for progress reports every now and then outside of "yeah, we're still making it."

I can agree with that. Long devlopment cycles look better than, say, a year for a AAA Game. But having some flow of information of 'Hey, this is our protagonist, this is our premise, this is our core conflict' would be nice to tell us 'Hey, things are looking good'.

Then again, now that Witcher 3 is finished with, hopefully we'll start getting some more info in the near future.

I mean, it's kind of a Captain Obvious, all developers with an in-house engine upgrade said engine and its tools whenever they start a new game.

I suspect "Blood and Wine" was a testing ground for features that CD Projekt Red want to use in Cyberpunk 2077, like the house improving and the new mutations system.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

I doubt it. I mean, there's not much to test. They already showed they can change a cell's appearance (which is basically all the house is from a code point of view) with Novigrad and White Orchard. And the mutation thing is just new abilities to unlock, whats there to test?

[up] Possibly some monster effects, as well as the morphing animations / transformations - the higher vampires in the base game had a very basic transformation accompanied by a white flash to mask the model change (Slight finger stretching aside)

So, having the facial morphs of the expansions (Some initial minor elements in Ho S) and then the full One-Winged Angel thing later was them stretching some more bespoke animations.

The environmental enemies like the Shaelemar and to an extend the Archspores were possible tests for different combat methods as well, to see if they could do AI that wasn't just focused on the player but also tries to trap you and reacts to things around it more.

Beyond that, cell changes on a minor level like the house were possibly an attempt to show proof of concept (I imagine there'll be some for of dingy apartment in Cyberpunk, a base of operations where you have your laptop etc). Only thing that bothers me about thing slike that are that you can only remodel via a binary menu then do minor cosmetic things.

Weirdly quite liked upgrading via a visual menu (Like AC 2's Monterrigori map, or even Skyrims Hearthstone approach where you can build and position things) but that would likely need a whole new UI.

It will be interesting when they start showing what they have done.

I'll believe it when CD Projekt Red says something about. Not some two random chucklefucks on Youtube.

They've been asking for grants for some of the stuff involved in the game, but yeah, I haven't read anything about this, as much as I enjoy Rooster Teeth.

I know and even then looking for grants doesn't mean they have run out of money. It could be a means to keep that from happening or to create a bit of a buffer or to fund something that is outside the games current budget. There are a lot of reasons to possibly seek a grant.

Not sure how Rooster Teeth came up with running out of money when all the other reports seem to indicate they are going full steam ahead.
