I guess they had to surprise the fans somehow? But that ending is kinda hilarious. And more than kinda wtf. Although I'd sorta been intending to use something like that, except in a way that actually makes sense. I have to actually consider the implications of that... although being dead doesn't actually hinder her in any significant way anyway so that might be just a setup for however they adapt SDR2.

At least it differentiates itself from being slightly more disappointing than the anime though.

Well, that's interesting. So her split personality also came from some serious family troubles, as well as presumably the bullying at school.

That post is pretty recent and no one had posted in this thread since then until you, so pretty safe to say no one did. Pretty interesting. In fine DR tradition it's rather OTT... well, in more of a weirdness sense than exaggeratedly tragic this time.

At first, I'd thought that it was suggesting that Fukawa's mother also had a split personality, and that Syo arose from the stress of that situation as well as a genetic susceptibility.

The truth is actually... weirder, strangely enough.

I choose to believe that Shou is the spirit of the second baby possessing Fukawa's body. Tokuichi confirmed that ghosts are canon.

Yeah I'd heard the theories of either a divorce or her mom having a split personality before but not this one.

In the DR play they had Ishimaru get executed with Oowada which is probably better for the sake of the story and things but then Celes and Yamada vote wrong in Sakura's trial because ???. Though I actually like the "you are executed if you vote wrong" rule a lot and it would make way more sense to have everyone be desperate to get a total consensus even when most of the evidence is pointing to someone but they haven't solved the full case yet.

Well, that page mentions how Celes tried to derail the trial to the wrong answer, so presumably, she took over as the one who felt betrayed by people not listening to Sakura, and chose death.

I guess Hifumi believed her over the others in the end.

Okay but Asahina's reason for doing it was embedded in her relationship with Sakura. Celes had nothing even remotely like that so it's still pretty ???, unless something else changed drastically. So in contrast to the Ishimaru thing there's no way in which this appears to enhance the story.

Granted it's hard to figure out how else to do it—if Celes and Yamada did it because they were genuinely tricked by Asahina then she'd be at fault for their deaths, and also the resolution of the trial doesn't allow for any confusion, really.

DRAE has been fully translated (in script form, the subs are probably going to be up soon enough).

I'd been fully spoiled and had seen the epilogue long before finishing this but my reaction is still kinda, "Gosh."

If Monaka wasn't born despair and wasn't transformed by Junko herself she has no right to be the Second, tch.

But geez, endings that are neither hope nor despair have become the main theme for everything after the first game (except Zero probably). I guess it makes sense that only something created from the ground up by Junko to be a clash between hope and despair would work out that way but, er, I guess here we have the real theme of the series. But rejecting Junko's premise while continuing the series is kinda ???

I would like to ask something, With the Dangan ronpa page and the sequel games page why does everything have spoilers turned off, would it not be better to still leave some of it spoiled?

Because putting spoilers where spoilers should go would be almost the same as putting spoiler on the entire page.

So it would be a case of if there were spoilers on things that needed spoilers there would be too many spoilers covering everything, make sense if that is the case.

There's pretty much no way for it to make sense, but also, absolutely.

DR0: Ryouko being Rei might be fine but Mukuro would make a better Zen, surely? And Junko and Ryouko being around at the same time is kinda... (but Junko'd make either an excellent or horrible navigator).

To hell with making sense, it gives us more Chihiro, more Kiyoko, more Chiaki, and more Ibuki. That's worth making no sense.

Has anyone seen NicoB's Let's Plays of Dangan Ronpa and Super Dangan Ronpa 2? They're fucking hysterical.

Tried, but got bored.

I was looking through concept art of characters, and it's odd to associate the characters we already know with them.

Although there's one for Ibuki that's a little worrying. It makes her look like Junko.

It was in the Anime. Showed up for one scene, where it was being used for stress relief by Monokuma after he found out the Monokuma key was stolen.
