It's ten times better than any of Larry Clark's input. Then again, ANYTHING's better than Larry Clark.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I love Larry Clark. Maybe because his movie characters remind me of how white trash my town generally is.
My PM box is always open to anyone who wants to talk/vent.I think the only Larry Clark film I've ever liked is Bully, and that's probably only because it was based on a true story.
But back on topic:
I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I remember the editing and sequencing being really good. For example, the first time her friend drags her into having sex with those boys, there's that fade to black as they're being zipped down.
I think the most out there line in Thirteen is probably "I'm a lion! Rrraaaghh!"
I'll admit the ending moves me a bit.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Bully is my favorite as well, but I also really liked Kids, even though there's absolutely nothing positive about that movie.
Yeah, I really liked the ending, and I usually don't care all that much for open-for-interpretation endings, simpy because I know even with those, the writer had to have something in mind for what happened to the characters.

Referring to the indie film about the troubled thirteen year-old
I've seen this movie a lot, first time being when I was around twelve or so, and it's one of my favorites. However, the the first time I saw I thought it was a little unrealistic (despite being based on true events) and very few thirteen year-olds acted like Tracy and Evie, especially not close to half the school. But after seeing it again last night I realized not only have I done a less extreme version of almost everything they did in that movie throughout my teens, but it reminded me a lot of some younger girls I know.
What is your take on the realism of this movie?
