So a bit of speculation related to the Stan identity switch theory.
I was musing back to the "Bottomless Pit" episode specifically the third explicitly canonical segment. The joke with Stan writing in big bold letters I HAVE COMMITTED TAX FRAUD gels very well with this theory. Why? Because the only purpose of doing that even if you were forced to be honest was to draw attention to it. US taxes are usually done early in the year and he was using the 2012 form which meant he was needlessly filling out a form due six months in advance.
Notably despite your taxes encouraging by design for you to begin by writing down your name, Stan didn't write his name on the form. With that in mind I think the tax fraud confession was a desperate plea to get the twins to remove the teeth before, someone in any circumstances asked him "Who are you?"
Also I'm pretty sure identity theft would generally also consist of tax fraud.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Did Stan know he had the teeth, though?

Peace is the only battle worth waging.I don't think the twins told him at any point but he had to have realized that he was being forced to be honest at some point.
Also he may have either been told about the teeth from the Author or seen it when writing the wacky commentary in the third journal.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.He could have easily realized that something was up, but didn't let on.

Oh God! Natural light!Under the influence of the teeth, Stan volunteered a lot of honesty - such as when he called the police to confess to more crimes, or his unsettling nihilistic observations, prompted solely by the fact that he thought of them. The effect of the teeth seemed less like selective editing of his dialogue and more like an actual personality shift - the teeth didn't compel him to tell the truth, they actually made him honest on a personal level.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.That's almost more terrifying.
Reaction Image RepositoryI feel like we should have gotten a lot more info on Stan's other crimes then. Even removing the possibility of identity theft, he neglects to mention any of the forgery he did, and he had to fake SOMEONE's death for a Stan Pines to be dead, when neither of them are.
Also more evidence for the switch. Author's handwriting, Deed to the Mystery Shack.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Oh, right. Can't forget the time the twins spent at least a night in a jail cell because Stan talked them into helping him forge money.
Do their parents know they now have criminal records?
The answer to that question is readily apparent. The twins haven't been sent home yet.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Unless they're criminals too...
Oh God! Natural light!I've got a theory, wrote it up on Tumblr, figured I could share it
As for the truth teeth, put me in the 'Was aware but played up the grossest, most disturbing, and most self-destructive truths he could so Mabel would take the damn teeth out' Camp. It's basically the only thing that makes sense considering all the things that stayed hidden.
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority. That Bill grudge is pretty easy to justify, considering Bill is a powerful being who messed with Grunkle Stan's head.
Robbie isn't too hard to understand being mad at considering he was going to brainwash Wendy. And if anything it might have only been a week or two since that happened considering they are in summer.
As for Pacifica that was just because she made Mabel sad it lasted longer than needed. Dipper doesn't like anyone hurting anyone he cares for in any way.
Wait... I am noticing a theme.
I think you make some very good points, with the caveat that I don't think that Dipper will be pushed to the side permanently. I think the role swap will be a part of his development, and he'll go back to being the hero at the end of the story, or at least the roles will go back to where they were. The reason I think that is because Mabel and Dipper need each other. Dipper is the head, and Mabel is the heart of the team. The whole point is that they balance each other out; Dipper needs Mabel to keep him from getting overly paranoid and losing sight of what's right, whereas Mabel needs Dipper to help her focus and reign in her impulses. This is just a very extreme example of that.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah I can't see Dipper making a FaceāHeel Turn for much longer than a two parter. Some bitterness leading up to said turn though is likely.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I don't think it's going to be as short as a two parter, but no way in hell would it be permanent either. Mabel wouldn't let that happen!
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.I come back to bout two pages talking about Pincest...wonderful.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well this page we're discussing theories and stuff at least.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I wanna see an AMV of Bill Cipher set to Cab Calloway's "Reefer Man". Sombody make it happen.
So Mr. Mackerell is on Team Author/Stanford Weird Al.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Who?
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.The guy who makes the Order of the Holy Mackerell videos.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.what?
i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apartBasically a guy who makes Grabity Falls speculation and analysis vids.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.
Well, my whole side of argument was premised on the idea that Dipper doesn't know that it would temporary. Like some magic thingamabob turns him female, breaks beyond repair, and he has to deal with the possibility of being stuck that way. Obviously he wouldn't be, but he wouldn't know that.
