Yeah, Apocalyptic Log meets memory wipe, possibly Memory Gambit. Though its use in GF might have been inspired by AT anyway, since they're both very popular western cartoons right now.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if the similarity was intentional. For what it's worth I think GF actually did it better due to the character aspects of it, as well as the fact that it actually had decent buildup rather than coming right the heck out of nowhere. Not that Adventure Time did it badly, of course.

Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.Apparently the chart in Mc Gucket's memories shows that the portal will be more likely to fail by leaps and bounds the more powerful it gets.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectNo way that that's ever going to cause problems...
Reaction Image RepositoryI finally saw the episode, which was great. My only question is, was this part of this episode? Don't tell me what it is, just tell me if it's a spoiler for people who've seen the Blind Eye episode.

"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."It is, and it's hardly a spoiler.

Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.Oh wow, so that's the screencap that had everyone panicking about spoilers. That's... funny.
But yeah, that episode! Can't help noticing how shoehorned-in the humor often feels in more dramatic plots like this, but overall it was pretty great. And I'm actually impressed. I can't believe that they actually explained why almost everyone in this town is such a blundering idiot. Side-effect of the constant memory-wiping.
Today's episode was very decent, it was very something interesting.
Old Man Mc Koot is an awesome character, character type.
Agreed about the humor feeling forced, I rarely notice it but the humor from some scenes kept me from getting completely hooked.
Enjoyable episode, still.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Really? If anything, I actually thought there were less jokes this episode. The vibe was more adventure-y and the jokes played into that.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThe humor was objectively funny.
Yeah, the episode felt more plot-centric but the humor came from the characters being their usual selves, so nothing felt out of place.
Or maybe I'm just used to Gravity Falls' sense of humor. It's definitely my cup of tea.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.I didn't think the humor this episode was bad by itself, but it did feel a little jarring alongside all the serious plot stuff.
I found the humor to be funny throughout. The one time I felt it ground the rest of the story to a halt was the robe joke, and even that could be interpreted as both sides staring in horror. And it was still funny anyway.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.To be honest, the connection to Ice King makes me think they're siblings rather than rip off.
By the way, did anyone see the latest Steven Universe? I think Dipper would think Renaldo had gone too far(even if you read the tumblr blog for that character).
Maybe it's just because I'm not as into Adventure Time as most people, but I didn't even see the ice King connection until someone pointed it out. And even after that, I still don't think it was in any way intentional.
The Rick and Morty thing is weird, though.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I'm wondering about the legal ramifications of something Disney ending up on a Cartoon Network show. What are the implications of a cross-company interaction like this? Could we see stuff in other shows if they end up in the portal? Could Steven Universe end up encountering Stan's spare fez in a few episodes?
Maybe I'm taking this all too seriously....
Click for more crappy pixel artIt's so subtle I doubt the lawyers noticed. Trying to do anything bigger likely wouldn't pan out.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.A notebook a mug and a pen do not a lawsuit make.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThat was tragic.
Hopefully S2 won't end on a cliffhanger.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.I remember there was one episode of MAD (which of course aired on Cartoon Network) where they outright said Gravity Falls was a good show. I don't really think anyone will get mad over this.
"And kung fu is a terrible way to run a company" - alliteratorHere you go, and don't forget to look at the background. It cuts off the clip at the beginning where he first mentions Gravity Falls.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.Hey guys, remember Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained? And how the pictures at the end of them make up this beauty◊?
The red messages say I WAS SO BLIND HE LIED TO ME, THE DARKNESS IS NEAR
Maybe a hint about Ivan's life of regret?
i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apart
Also, that. The overarcing trope is just a specific type of Apocalyptic Log.
But anyway, yeah, I really liked that episode. Great blend of plot development and entertainment value. My only complaint is a lack of Grunkle Stan. It was great to see McGucket get fleshed out as a character. It's really cool that they decided to give the "Crazy Coot" stock character some legit backstory.
