So I'm working on a story that might get published and I'm terribly afraid that I'm just remembering from another story. It's supposed to be about a big powerful barbarian who through his ignorance of the english language he gets in and out of situations. He's kind and peaceful minded except for when a fight comes around than he has his fun wailing on people. The most important part is his name Krad. Has anyone heard of this name used for a barbarian before?

I only really know about Conan or Tarzan for barbarian humans and they don't seem similar... unless this is set in the modern world then it might be a bit like Tarzan?

Krad is the name of a character from the shoujo manga DN Angel, but I don't believe I've ever heard of a barbarian character with that name. Barbarian names tend to have a generic African or Scandinavian sound to them, and Krad doesn't sound like it comes from either language. A Google search either brings back things that aren't really people or are related to the aforementioned DN Angel. In fact, when I see the name, the first thing I think of is the evil blond guy from the manga.

It is, however, "dark" backwards, which seems a bit cheesy (whether you intended that or not).

Why is his name the most important part about him?

Because if there is another barbarian out there named Krad that's copyrighted than I could get sued. I'm really attached to the name and I'm hoping to not have to give it up. Perhaps I shouldn't look for examples of the name because I get deniability if I can't find anything.

What. No, that's not really...on second thought, yeah, you do that. Don't stress over it and don't do research. Just stick to the name and you'll be fine. That's the easiest way for all involved parties to finish this conversation.

Shine on you crazy diamond.
