"What the hell was with the switching between Miss Sweet and Miss I'm-Gonna-Eat-Your-Children?!" Charity asked as she got off the floor and brushed some of the water off of her. "And what the heck is an Anima?"

Isaac didn't expect the rocket to explode before he threw it. Exploding at point-blank range, Isaac was sent flying backwards and onto the road, leaving a trail of broken asphalt until he stopped skidding. Rockets, yes, those would bother Isaac. Taking a second to heal his body from the slight damage dealt to him, Isaac couldn't focus on the escaping Lucunditas.

Knowing that Lucunditas would likely escape his menu for the umpteenth time, Isaac roared loudly with the voices of the people he'd eaten and took out his rage on the incoming cars. Taking a running start, Isaac jumped and used a boost of blood to propel him with massive fists forward at around 300 miles an hour towards the focus of his rage: Lucas' car. Isaac decided he would wreck all of the gangsters' cars, then eat anyone would survived the initial rampage.

But he would especially take his time devouring the blond man who distracted him long enough for Lucunditas to escape. That would brighten up Isaac's day somewhat.

"Anima is apparently a who, not a what," Matthew said, "We'll look into that when we get back to the station." He let out a sigh. "I'll also explain what this girl was talking about there."

"So I get to show myself? About time..." Kara was beaming, despite her grumbling tone. She was the friendly type, and Matthew knew she didn't like hiding her existence. However, most normal people - and more than a few supers - would be quite afraid to confront an actual ghost.

"So what you're saying... is that she won't turn into a giant ghost monster while we haul her ass back?" Wildcard cautiously asked, poking the girl again.

Once Lucas noticed that Isaac was beginning to head towards him, he pressed a button on the rocket launcher, and threw it towards Isaac. The rocket launcher began to beep, as its self-destruct mode had just been activated, and it would explode right in Isaac's face:

"Yippee ki-yay, motherfucker."

Lucas dropped back in the car, poking the gang member driving it:

"Turn this car back around, right now!"

The gang member nodded, stepping on the break, and immediately attempting to drive backwards. Lucunditas, meanwhile, had already escaped into a dark alley, running away from the scene.

It was a nice, peaceful day, Scio mused. Nothing much seemed to be happening action-wise, but that was something he was more than okay with. After years of being worn down by constant heroics, he'd learned to appreciate these fleeting moments of tranquility.

Idly wondering what he was going to do now that he'd finished reading all the day's news twice over, Josh folded his paper and decided to give the Liaison a buzz. Pulling out his phone, the mind-reader tapped a few keys and look another long drag of his beverage as he waited for it to finish dialing.

Isaac was not going to be stopped now by an exploding rocket launcher. Gritting his teeth, he let out another boost to divert his direction upwards, leaving the explosion to occur under him before diving at Lucas' car from above at his previous speed.

Isaac was now diving towards the car around 300 miles an hour, at a car that just braked and had to start moving backwards. There was no chance Isaac wouldn't hit the car to cause it to flip backwards and into the others.

Isaac wasn't going to let his makeup meal get away so easy.

Lucas immediately scrambled for something in his pocket as he saw Isaac dodging the rocket. He soon reached for a small device, something Jack had stoled from a warehouse for him- an instant armor, something he could use for escape:

"Well, boys, it's been a pleasure!"

Before the other gang members could ask what Lucas was talking about, he found the little device, attached it to his belt and pressed the button, his body being covered by a metal that expanded from the center of his belt. He kicked open the door and jumped out, just as Isaac was about to hit the car. He sucessfully did so, Lucas barely escaping, and the car flipped backwards, landing on top of the other gang cars. The gang members immediately exited their cars and began shooting at Isaac, while Lucas ran towards the same dark alley Lucunditas disappeared in.

Aldawolf looked back behind him, into the rest of the alley. He turned around, and started to run. He wasn't sure if they were registered or not, but it's better to be safe and not stick around to find out. He ran off into the alley, and took a moment to build up energy before jumping up to a nearby rooftop. HE didn't quite reach the roof, but he managed to grab onto a nearby windowsill. ~Dammit!~ He looked up, noticing nothing above him to grab onto. He put his feet onto the outside wall of the building, and tried to jump to the next building, onto the rooftops and make a run for it.

Robert had just finished sending out Larry, Curly, and Moe to Arguma's location, after the three had finally finished their pointless argument about the who had the best head of hair, when he felt a vibration coming from his communicator in his pocket. Taking it out, he pressed a button, and proceeded to speak into it.

"Hello, this is Robert, Government Liaison for Megalopolis' Registered Superheroes. Who's this?"

Aldawolf was barely able to get his grip onto the next building, but he was still able to climb his way up onto the roof. Looking behind, there didn't seem to be anyone chasing after him. He was safe — at least, for the time being...

"Hey, uh, guys?" Wildcard stopped being so nonchalant about the unconscious girl and pointed his cane at the man on the roof who had fired the green shots at her earlier, and suddenly taken off running.*

"The wicked flee when no man pursueth, right?" With that, he quickly jumped up a series of fire escapes and windowsills to chase the man.

He was nowhere in sight. "Son of a bitch!"

Aldawolf runs to the next roof at a super speed, jumping to the next roof and the next roof. He makes sure that no one is following him, and then lets himself fall to the ground. HE'd figured he'd do some more patrols, still patrolling along the rooftops, looking at the city below. ~Managed to make it out. Hope they didn't see me, or weren't registered...~

"You don't even use your last name when answering calls? I thought you were more professional than that, Robert." Scio's smirk was palpable through the phone. "Anyway, it's me. To be honest, I'm waiting on an appointment, so I thought I'd drop you a line and see if you'd picked up any new intel since this morning."

There was a storm of indignant squeaking, and then about a dozen thoroughly sodden rats clambered out of the storm drain, where they had been swept by the torrent; several of them dragged along the brown paper bundle.

"Look'st thou!" one of them bellowed indignantly at Charity and Wildcard, who happened to be closest, as several more rats opened the package to show some drenched lumps. Some pieces were identifiable as bread; others were more difficult. "And it'd taken me many moons to acquire that—food and weapons, not to mention washing me into the sewer. Careless wretches, could you not fight without flooding out every nest on the block? Have no consideration?"

Charity stared at the large group of for a moment. It wasn't that she was afraid of rats - her older brothers had kept them as pets for a while - it was that she had never heard them talk. Or move around in a large group and collect weapons.

"Wildcard... why is the group of rats talking?"

"Rats? Rats? I'll have thee know, knave—" If it were possible for a swarm of rats to swell in indignation, all in unison, they would have done it; the effect was ruined by several of the rats losing their balance and nearly toppling over. Luckily he caught himself in time.

"You address Abu Aleferan al-Hamelni, the Kobold of the Piper, the Ifrit of the Fiery Mountain," he proclaimed in as grandiose a voice as he could manage, overlaying the squeaking of the rats, and there was just a hint of recitation. "Be not fooled by my low appearance, O brief mortal! You speak to one who faces eternity and—" Abu was cut off by a fresh surge of water from the wrecked hydrant, which was just powerful enough to sweep several of the rats off their paws, followed by what sounded like cursing.

While Charity had watched the rat-thingy in awe for the first part of it's speech, when the water knocked it over she started to giggle.

"It's so cute!" She squealed.

By the time Larry, Curly, and Moe arrived, Arguma had already given the plant a basic look over and gotten the exact same story he had received from investigating the first vat.

Nothing. If Arguma hadn't seen the man enter the building himself, he would have had no reason whatsoever to suspect the building was connected with a potential criminal.

"Mr. Arguma." One of the men said as they entered the building.

[ARGUMA WILL SUFFICE.] The alien replied. [WHILE I THANK YOU FOR COMING, I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT JUST THE THREE OF YOU WILL BE SATISFACTORY. WHO OF YOU IS IN CHARGE?]

"I'm the lead here." Said one as they stepped forward. "Officer Curly."

[GET IN CONTACT WITH ROBERT.] Arguma replied. [I HAVE ALREADY LOOKED THE BUILDING OVER AND FOUND NOTHING. WE ARE GOING TO NEED A DEDICATED SET OF SCANNING EQUIPMENT TO FULLY INVESTIGATE. WE SHOULD ALSO FIND OUT WHO IS OWNS THIS BUILDING AND SPEAK WITH THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY KNOW. IF THERE IS A REGISTERED TELEPATH, IT WOULD ALSO BE IN OUR BEST INTERESTS IF THEY COULD BE PRESENT WHEN WE TALK WITH THE OWNER TO ENSURE THEY ARE TELLING THE TRUTH.]

Leaving the men to secure the building and see to his request, Arguma returned to his ship. There, he activated the Exiles scanners to try to get a jump on detecting anything that might clue him into the plants true nature. While he let the scanner run, he also tried to get in contact with Kali, hoping he'd be able to do so without making use of her ear implant.

He had a feeling that the woman's assistance would be a great asset if they were successfully able to follow up on the lead he currently had.

"He. He's so cute, thou mean'n," he mumbled with sullen resignation, getting more of the rats upright. Several of them shook themselves dry while he spoke. "Am a djinni, and one who must have angered the All-Powerful mightily in some time long past for these indignities, I begin to think. These rats form my body, for I am legion." Having assembled more of them, he looked inquiringly at Wildcard. "Food, have thou said?"

"Really, it's been one he—", he then momentarily stopped, before the conversation resumed. "Sorry, I got another call. One of my boys. Think you can call back another time?
