Eh, screw it.

  • Name: Smith Johnson, The Travelling Man

  • Side: Formerly Non-Registered, now pretty much is.

  • Physical Appearance: Here it is, for general reference. Smith Johnson is a robot, and stands about 7'1''. Oftentimes, he wears a heavy brown trenchcoat, hoodie, veil and baggy pants when he wants to walk around unnoticed.

  • Personality: For convenience's sake, he has assigned himself a male gender. He has a general knowledge of information about the Earth, it's fauna and flora, literary works, other facts and whatnot. However, he only know his history up to 1899, and gathers recent information through newspaper scraps, old books and conversations he overhears. Smith generally seeks to protect the populace of Earth, and spends his time patrolling the streets at night. Is also somewhat fearful of the populace he protects, due to counting as an "Unregistered Hero" to them all and having multiple run-ins with the police. Speaks politely, with a mildly electronic voice.

  • Background: Smith first came to this world 2 years ago, coming to life in a cellar. With him was a letter, claiming to be from "A Good Friend". It explained that together they had gathered some information on Smith: He came from a timeline which split with history at January 1st, 1900 for reasons unexplained. Every ten years, Smith seems to "shift" from one timeline to another in history, on January first of that year. He is designated to help humanity and will be doing so until January 1st, 10000. Smith loses all knowledge gained from the previous decade when he shifts. Nothing else is known.

  • Having very little idea of the world around him, he was honestly confused about this and wanted to wait out the 10 years. His programming, however, drove him to patrol the city he lived in from 7:00pm to 6:00am, against his will. After being declared wanted for causing collateral catastrophe during a fight (and, technically, not being a U.S. citizen), he has moved about from city to city incognito, trying to do as much help as possible until raising the attention of the powers that be. Currently lives in another abandoned cellar in Megalopolis, having come here 1 month ago.

  • Powers
    * Can extend his arms 100ft, and can channel excess heat from his power source into them, superheating them.
    * Generally, he has super strength. Probably could pick up a tank with some duress.
    * Can hover-fly, yet only at around 30mph. Prefers to take cars when in pursuit.
    * Made of a very, very durable alloy not seen in this world. Able to regenerate, albeit slowly (major damage may take up to a week).
    * Being a robot, he is immune to all psychics. He is not immune to all electronic warfare/hacking, but it'll take quiet a bit of work.

[up]I saw "World of Heroes" in my watchlist and thought that someone had posted in the RP, but nooooo.[lol] I do have a question, now.*

Of all possible distances, why choose twenty-one miles?

[down]I see - I didn't notice the "seven league".

[up]The boots I am wearing are the Seven-league boots. A league is 3 miles, so 7 leagues is 21 miles. I got this from wikipedia so I could be wrong.

[up] Well, he is a smidge bit Overpowered. Summons everything (including gods), Magic Gun, Super Armor, Teleportation, Invisibility, Invulnerability, Immortality, teleproof, perfect physique, friends with gods, martial artistry and super sleuthing. Most importantly, he's on the route to becoming a God himself.

Tone it down quiet a bit.

While it is not the only issue, gods and immortality are very rare things here. The only person to deal with them (unless I'm being really unobservent) so far is Chronus, who's origin contains what may or may not be a time god, and who has very conditional immortality in not aging and healing nonfatal wounds very slowly, where his conditional immortality is his only power and the fragment of the powerful time being in him that gives him the powers messes him up psychologicaly. Here, your character has a fair few other powers, many also being similarly flawed, and is entirely immortal, has easy links to many gods with no real price, and is almost one himself.

[up]It's a good thing you don't mind — because after going over your character sheet, I have to say that your character doesn't just fit with the RP. He's far too powerful ofor ne thing, but he also feels like belongs more in a Fantasy setting. That doesn't mean I'm against characters with Fantastical or Mythological influences, but they should still have a 'Superhero-esqu- grounding. Just about all of the entries in this RP so far are actually good examples on that last one. You won't see any of them flying around in spandex, but at the same time, they still 'feel' like Superheroes. (They're also not overpowered.) Now, if you're looking for good examples of Fantasical Superheroes, there's plenty of mainstream heroes alone, such as Marvel's Thor or Hercules, or DC's Wonder Woman.

To sum up; you need to make a character that has reasonable limits, and that also fits better within the premise of the RP — a superhero community torn apart due to a Superhuman Registration Act. You'll also probably want to avoid adding in extra villain groups or organizations, such as your 'cult'. Trust me, the force behind the current chain of events in the RP is all we need right now. And lastly, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.smile

EDIT: Oh, and I just read this:

Does it work better if I mention that while I can summon most anything, that doesn't necessarily mean they have to listen to me. How about the only things that will actually listen to me are a pack of demonic wolves that are not much tougher than regular wolves. If I did summon a God or demon, it would probably beat me up and leave. i can summon animals, but again no real control. I can only summon magic items. Also I can't just summon any item because a lot of them...

Being overpowered is one thing, but if you did this, you'd be making yourself underpowered in comparison. You can still be strong; you just can't be as strong as your character was originally meant to be.tongue

Name: Andrew Harper. The Phoenix

Side: Registered

Physical Appearance: 6'1. He is 26, but looks 16. Golden-red hair. Golden-red eyes. Athletic body. Caucasian. In civilian form he can often be seen wearing jean and a tee-shirt or slacks and a button down short. When acting as a superhero he will usually be wearing whatever pants he was wearing before-hand, with no shirt, and with a pair of flaming wings.

Personality: Andrew is a charismatic, nice, friendly, kind, and honest individual. He does not get embarrassed allowing him to act in ways others would not be willing to. He is a big believer in forgiveness and second chances and often goes out of his way to convince villains to turn their life around. One of Andrew's favorite things to do is talk to other people.

Power: He can generate holy flames. The fire only needs oxygen to burn when it is away from his body. He can control all flames that he generates. All fire that spreads from his fire, counts as his fire and is holy. He can turn himself into fire. His control over the flames is great enough that he can make them not damage certain objects or people, even if they are covered in the flames. He can absorb fire. He can even make the flames solid, being able to use them as ropes, or chairs. The flames being holy do extra damage against evil.

He can generate a pair of flaming wings with which he can fly. He can also fly in the same way the human torch does, but does not because people complained that hurt their eyes.

He has a low level amount of enhanced healing. When he dies his body burns up and turns to ash, and out of the ash his body reforms at the age of 16. He can only do this one more time, due to him only being a half-phoenix.

He has enchanced hearing and sight. He can see in the dark, and will not be blinded by bright lights.

He can speak to and understand, birds.

History: His dad was a human, and his mom was a phoenix. Luckily, they fell through a dimensional whole and lived the rest of their lives their, and he was raised by his grandparents. He recently bought a clock tower and now lives there. He calls it "The Nest". At sixteen he gained his powers. He became a superhero because he believes it to be the right thing to do. That and it's fun. He's died three times so far, once at 18 during an alien invasion(During which his grandparents died), once at 21 where he carried a nuclear missile into space and the missile uploaded and killed him, and on his 26th birthday he was killed by a guy with the ability to nullify superpowers. As soon as he left Andrew's body burned up. The Phoenix does not have a secret identity. He registered because he keeps dying and deaging and he is not good enough with computers to take care of that on his own. He is very wealthy because he wrote the book "The Flames of Justice" about his experiences as a superhero, one of the best selling books of the decade. He is a dedicated blogger. He often publicly endorses causes and charities he supports. He is very friendly to the press and has been on many talk shows over the years. Due to his total honesty with the public, willingness to play ball with the media, and his attempts to deal with the problem facing the world in ways other than "Beat people up" he is one of the more well liked heroes. He is currently trying to drum up support to get the Superhuman Prohibition Act repealed.

Also, the GM may have a problem with reincarnation.

[up]To be fair I said, he could make flames hotter than the sun, not that he would. But you're right I should probably change that. What do you think is a good upper limit for his flames?

Edit. I made the upper limit 2600 Kelvin. If anyone has a better suggestion I am happy to hear it.

[up]Better, though there's still a couple things to be ironed out. First off, this last line of your first paragraph of your 'Powers' Section:

He can make flames up to 2600 Kelvin. Every year he is alive the maximum heat of his flames go up by a hundred kelvin. The flames being holy do extra damage against evil.

You don't need to tell us how hot they are. Removing that also takes away the possibility of your flames being so hot, that you're overpowered. I'd also suggest taking away the 'extra damage against evil' bit, because in this RP, what's truly 'good&evil' isn't exactly easy to define.

Also, your 'Reincarnation' powers need a limit. Here's what I'm thinking; you still died and came back three times, as your backstory says. However, not being a whole phoenix, you can only revive so many time, and you have only one reincarnation left before you've reached your limit. In other words; you can only reincarnate once. Is that fine with you?

I also like the fact that you're a Registered Hero speaking out against Registration. I'm not saying you can't do it — I'm just saying it's going to lead to some interesting In-RP problems for your character down the road. Anyway, just fix the first two things, and we'll go from there.smile

By extra damage against evil, I meant demons. Is that okay, or should I just get rid of the holy part entirely?

@Totemic Hero: So... where do we stand with Mathew and Kara? Do you want to just use Kara for the interrogation sequence? Or you want to wait until Mathew gets conscious? I really don't want to have to just do this on my own, as I'm already controlling Scio for the time being, and I end up having to control Charity, if only for a brief while.tongue So, how do you want to do this?

Kara is going to handle the interrogation sequence. Robert won't have much choice, as I assume we're on a semi-tight schedule here.
