Well, yeah. While the rules of the setting do bend around her, they only seem to do so to the degree that it'd been previously established that they would. If that makes sense.
Also, I thought no one generally dared gainsay a Sue, for fear of immediately losing any sympathetic-character status. People definitely dare gainsay Korra.

I'd be interested in that quote if you've got it. I've long despised how Mary Sue no longer has any meaning because people throw it around so freely.
God, what a Mary Sue."
Sound familiar?*
That said, much as the term is used to excess and used problematically, I don't think the concept is entirely irrelevant. There are, in fact, some godawful Creator's Pet characters out there.

Tahno/Tahno, OT-FUCKING-P.
Seconded. Which makes for an interesting love polygon with Tahno, Tahno, Tahno, and Tahno's hair gel.
And lets throw Tahno and Tahno in their to make it even more interesting.
As well as Tahno's guyliner and Tahno's groupies. And more Tahno.
Oh, and don't forget Tahno's shirt. Or Tahno's pants. Or Tahno's shoes. Or Tahno.
I think we have run out of Tahno-related objects to ship him with. Or am I missing something?
Edit: I've got it! More Tahno!

Tahno's belt. Tahno's reflection. Tahno!
The fact that Mako broke up with Asami and hooked up with Korra for no apparent reason makes Korra look Sueish

http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/ http://sagan4.com/forum/index.phpWhen did that happen? To my knowledge, Mako was still with Asami, and Korra was still single at the end of the latest episode.
oops sorry that probably happens next episode
http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/ http://sagan4.com/forum/index.phpHow would you know what happens next episode?
truteal is a Time Lo *is shot*
Truteal, even if that DID happen, why would that make Korra a Sue? At all?
Not to pile on, but Mako actually knows Korra longer than he knows Asami (albeit not by much), not to mention that while not necessarily a Sue, Asami seems kind of closer to the idea given her seeming perfection.
Hodor...so if character A (who happens to be a teenager—read "most thick-headed mammal known to humanity") does something foolish on behalf of character B, that makes character B a Sue?
...wat.
Welcome to the insane asylum bro. Your first mistake was expecting rationale from the shipping fanbase. Remember, all of us are psycho until proven otherwise myself included.
I kid I kid. Only slightly though. Yeah, sometimes it's best to ignore this sort of crazy when it's obvious it's done because a person doesn't like a specific character. I think your batman quote sums up a lot of this pretty well.
Plus, it didn't happen...
Not really. She doesn't have much of a personality or a role beyond being the Veronica of the love triangle thus far. A Sue dominates the story, everyone tends to go on about how great they are, is generally perfect and whose flaws are just there to make them seem even more perfect (THEY'RE TOO HELPFUL!)
In that respect Korra's not a Sue, she was still kinda bratty though and I found her rather unlikeable the way she kept forcing herself on a guy who's already taken. She does have a tendency not to get called out on her bullshit or not called out enough (Tenzin back in ep 2 should've really given her shit for being such an insolent little punk) but I still wouldn't say that makes her a Sue.
Truteal's example could potentially make her a Sue in that people are bending over backwards for her, but it depends on the execution. Frankly I'm not a fan of this love triangle, especially the way it's escalated so quickly, and it would be a rather sudden turn of events if what Truteal said is true but again...I'd rather wait and see how it turns out before claiming Mary Sue.

Asami is the Betty to Korra's Veronica.
Calling Korra out is apparently Lin's job. I hope she and Asami will get more screen time in the next episodes.
Lazy and pathetic.Korra and Mako aren't in a relationship but Asami basically exists to make their relationship more complicated, she doesn't have much going for her beyond that.
I hope so too, Lin seemed pretty awesome and I always like a character who calls out the protagonist on their actions.

With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill.
I'm pretty skeptical of the argument that Korra is a Sue in that while she is overpowered in her universe, so is every other Avatar that has been or will be. I guess I do feel a bit iffy about her twice singlehandedly winning the match for her team, but that's more an issue of it not being all that fair to allow the Avatar to play, not because it conflicts with the abilities she'd be expected to have.
