Shonen Jump Alpha Less Spoilers Thread

This thread is for discussion of the manga appearing in Shonen Jump Alpha...as they appear. At this time, the chapters of manga appearing in SJA are three weeks behind the scanlators (and two weeks behind the physical magazine) so it can be tricky to avoid spoilers in their individual threads if you are only reading the official release.

So, please discuss the most recent issues of SJ Alpha here, but no spoiling past those, okay?

this definitely needs to get more love as it is one of the only official (not counting yen presses take on it/ different magazine)places to read manga LEGALLY.ive bought the one shot releases and was very impressed with it, and am looking towards a future subscription.

anyways i highly encourage this for those that do live in the states to subscribe, as ill be doing shortly. and sooner or later they can probably close the gap.

This week's issue has the pentultimate Bakuman chapter, with next week having the final one (absent any bonus material in the collected volume.) It's nice to see the supporting cast do reactions one more time, even if some of their plotlines are left open. Fanfic time ahoy!

Toriko: It's nice that they've found a way to challenge our hero by providing a situation where hot-bloodedness just won't work. But how long do you think that this aesop will last once he's out of the temple?

man i need to to continue reading bakuman and catch up, i just stopped for some reason.

at the moment all im reading is one piece on there, but only because i haven't caught up on toriko yet.

since bakuman is ending, i wonder what they are going to choose to replace it,if they even want to. it would be nice if it was Hunterx Hunter,but that's always going on hiatus. beelzebub would also be another good one, or even sket dance

They said on their official forums that they have a plan and will announce it next week.

So, in Naruto, Kabuto has a) removed his cloak, b) activated his surprise Super Mode, c) been really arrogant about how unbeatable he is, and d) started having a flashback detailing his sympathetic origins.

He is so dead.

interestingly enough he's never really been considered a threat (well not much of one anyway.)

and has been irrelevant for quite a while. imo i just wish Naruto would just end already, it hasn't been interesting in quite a long time now.

And Kabuto's super form is a snake, er, dragon, which per the overlord list, never helps.

Ehh, he turned into a snake some time ago. If that was going to get him killed, he'd already be dead.

I had a horrible feeling that somebody was going to make that joke.

The snake thing alone isn't enough to kill you—but when you add in the other Death Flags, well, at the very least Kabuto's going to be hurting at the end of this fight.

New issue with the final chapter of Bakuman is out, go read it so you can continue in this thread.

So, they're falling back on Rurouni Kenshin, are they?

I guess it was too much to hope that Bakuman would explore some of the realistic consequences of marrying someone you've barely spoken to for the last ten years, huh?

Yep, that's left to the fanficcers. Hmm...should check the Fanfic Recommendations page for Bakuman.

x8 yeah its mind blowing sales say otherwise as it continues to blow other series out of the water. anyways its fine if you dont like one piece, its just not your cup of tea.

i really wished they would have just chose something else but hey,it is a very popular series so why not? the good thing is that this isn't the supposed other series they were going to add, but wait a couple more months for it??!!! is a bit much

Checking our Rurouni Kenshin page, it appears that this will be a short series that adapts the upcoming live-action movie. And it's just started, so we haven't missed anything.

I have to admit that this week's Toriko chapter actually drew me in enough that I was freaked by the sudden appearance of the flying monster thing. It's been a fair while since we've seen the baddies.

Kenshin: Huh. Combining three of the early stories into one. Also, we get Kaoru as Faux Action Girl again, winning eight consecutive bouts before the story begins, whacking Kenshin since he isn't defending himself and then becoming a Distressed Damsel.

It's now official that our permanent (unless it's ten-weeked) replacement for Bakuman is Barrage aka "Sensei no Bulge". Yeah, that title wasn't going to work in the US market.

Zexal is dire, and I'm glad we're skipping it.

Hey, the Sound Five showed up in Naruto! Ain't seen them for a while.

Re: Barrage: Could be interesting. I haven't seen many sci-fi manga before.

So, Barrage. More space opera than hard SF so far, given we have "Planetville", royalty who actually seem to be in charge of things, a weapon that only works for those with the qualifications to be king, etc.

The former prince has a I Die Free moment, though that's probably not quite what he had in mind. And just who or what killed him remains a mystery.

The cute orphan kids will either be rescued quickly and placed in an Orphanage of Love...or killed off to further motivate Astro.

I'm calling it now; at some point the prince's weapon won't work against an opponent because they're pure of heart, just on the other side.
