Ages ago, the great gods carved out this land, Domatu, from the void of nonexistence.

Civilizations have risen and fallen since time immemorial across its four continents, often aided or conquered by others, but ever so rarely from those truly beyond.

What has only happened here twice before, is occurring once again, as time and space become bent and fractured, commanded, even if ever so briefly, by the wills of mortals...

. . .

Jaold Drotonroth let out a small grunt of pain, as he bent over, the cosmic energies coursing throughout him taking their toll. Waves of shimmering blue energy filled the room, pulsating through him and across the circles of arcane symbols at its center. Wind whipped up inside the room, the wooden structure creaking and moaning from the stress, books being tossed aside by unseen forces. The waves coalesced into a bright light in front of him, directly above the central circle, as the very air began to crack, a fissure appearing between universes.

"I've ... done it..." he said, getting back up slowly, as the light solidified into a diamond-shaped portal, the wind settling down. "A gateway between the realms . . . Now! Come to me, heroes of reality! Answer my call and serve your duty!"

Feel free to have your character arrive in any way you want from their home universe, but they should either walk out of, or appear next to the portal in this universe. Warning: Doing something really stupid right now could get your character un-summoned. :P

The duty of a magical girl was a strange thing. But among many things, it required heroics and bravery and friendship and all that kind of stuff! And when a portal opens up and says that you're going to serve your duty of being a hero, well... Ai really couldn't resist. The hooded sweat-jacket had plenty of pockets, so she quickly shoved her cards in there. Adjusting her skirt, she stretched. It wasn't like she had an prior magical-girl-ing to do, or really anything else to do at the moment, and this was clearly the duty of a magical girl.

She immediately went through the portal. The moment she appeared out of it, she activated Doki Doki Destruction's card, causing the spike-ball-tipped staff to form in her right hand. Then, she triggered her costume. There was something of a ridiculous light show, as she floated into the air. Her clothing exploded(light conveniently acting as a censor to anyone watching), and an extravagant pink uniform seemed to knit itself together onto her body.

Soon, she dropped to the ground, and raising one arm, flashed a V for victory at he man before her.

"Composite Magical Girl Pretty Ai-chan, at your service!" she declared, "This sounded like a job for a ma-... um...."

Finally, she began to take in her surroundings.

"... Where are we...?"

For once, Akiko had intended to get some sleep. She had changed into her baggy, floppy pajamas, but found herself staring at her cards at this point. They were all there, right? Or was one missing... she was too bleary to really see what the case was. So bleary, in fact, that she did not notice the portal opening up literally directly on top of her.

As such, the confused and sleepy pajama-clad girl was suddenly deposited in another world. She looked around, not really taking everything in on account of how tired she was. Needless to say, though, she was confused.

"Mmmmnnnn...?"

Kaori stared at the strange thing in front of her. It was probably some kind of portal, she guessed, blue, glowing, a voice calling heroes coming out of it... Oh, why not go through it? It was vacation right now, most of her fellow band members were away... it seemed like a pretty good idea, really. Without further delay, she sprinted right through the portal, winding up on the other side.

"So, heroes and stuff? Sounds pretty awesome!" she said, grinning and folding her arms. "Count me in for... whatever this is. Uh... what is it?"

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."

Cyndy Ryuhime went about her usual routine. Wake up, hide her entire body in clothing, curse her looks, glower at pretty people, curse her looks, curse her looks, wonder if there was a way to look human or become a proper dragon, curse her looks, burn something and curse her looks. And she hadn't even had lunch yet.

Walking towards a cave entrance, located deep with some forest she couldn't be bothered remembering the name of, she kept her gaze towards the floor. While she muttered bitterly about all the monsters of this world being cute, beautiful, handsome or whatever except for herself, she barely noticed a change in the floor.

...How the hell am I back outside? Cyndy wondered, raising her gaze. Masked face hiding her shock. Where was the cave? The forest? Where the hell...

There were several (criminally cute, Cyndy couldn't help noting jealously) girls around already, questioning what the hell was going on. She hung back, wary of them all.

A nine-tailed fox looked at the portal, arms folded and expression one of wonder. This was kind of new. Hadn't seen it around here before. Powerful magic anomaly, one she couldn't really identify. Didn't seem like an arcane magic steeped in evil and terror. Just... a glowing thing.

Tails swaying in rhythm, the kitsune wondered what to do. She was interested in checking this thing out. But was it safe...?

...Meh, even in her current state, she felt it was no trouble. Besides, if there was something terrifying beyond that gate, she was a nine-tailed fox. Her illusions were still unbeatable, no matter her condition!

Confidently, the fox strode through, appearing in a vastly different landscape... with a couple of people. Looked like they'd all come through that portal as well. Interesting...

"Someone call for a kitsune?" She asked cheerily, approaching them. "Because if so, it better not have anything to do with marriage. I do not feel like hiding my identity for a while, just to be outed for being fluffy~"

As Parvorus was walking around, suddenly his vision faded and when he could see again, various blurry pictures of far dimensions floated by untill finaly that motion came to a halt. He was standing in a library, many other lifeforms around. "Where...am I? Why am I?" he whispered.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Seeing a strange portal open directly on top of her brother Parvorus, Inspera was worried for his safety and decided to jump into the portal. Soon she found herself in the same place as her brother. "Where is this place? What is this place?", she wondered.

"Move it, you bearded cocksuckers," Alice yelled, standing atop a plastic crate. "If those fucking inspectors get here before this shit is moved off-world, I swear I'll piss on your ancestors' graves! After pickling my kidneys with the shittiest vodka I can find! C'mon, move it, move it!" She looked down. "And what the fuck is this little pattern on the..."

A flash of light, and both Alice and her crate vanished, leaving the warehouse workers dazed and confused.

Alice arrived, barely keeping her balance, in her usual outfit. She looked around. "Oh, for the love of..." she said, looking around at the nearby crowd.

She was a small woman, who might have been able to pass for a girl of twelve or so if she tried — but she wasn't trying right now. She was short, with greasy brown hair, pale skin, and clever brown eyes, and wore her usual on-the-job outfit: weather-beaten jeans, a white blouse, a white skirt, and a green-and-white windbreaker with a simplified green hummingbird — the corporate logo of her employer, Western Amalgamated Agricultural — discretely placed on her chest. At her side was a holster containing a small pistol.

She looked around at the scene. "Okay," she said, reaching into her jeans pocket to pull out a butterfly knife, "who dropped me in a fucking anime?" She didn't pull the knife out quite yet, but it would only take a moment.

New Avalon's Shield Ward

The ancient Wraith known as the Black Duke — even he has forgotten his true name aeons ago — hovered a few centimetres off the ground of the filthy alley. Apparently, the Angel (he did not catch her name) decided to follow the human, and carry Mallory with her. Shrugging — to the causal observer, it looked like wind blew past his cloak, causing it to ripple — he floated after her.
The bored Wraith's cowl swung back and forth as he casually scanned the area for more vampires (or any other hostile for that matter). His deathless stare pierced the night's dank fog, and he noted that nothing seemed out of place... at first. After a while, he noticed that something was wrong with the very air that passed through him.
He paused, and procession went onwards without him. Then a blast of magic flared in the distance; the magical aura was unlike anything he has ever sensed, even stranger than Mallory's. A mage this possible might have a cure, something that might finally allow him to rest.
For the first time in aeons, the Duke felt excitement. This was something completely new, and he could not help the feeling of hope. Perhaps, finally...
Rushing through the buildings that stood in his way, the Duke flew toward the source of the disturbance. It was quite distant, but it didn't matter to him, not any more; as someone who existed for thousands of years, his perception of time was quite different than the norm.
When he arrived at the scene, he found that the magical energy has all but dispersed. Disappointed, he turned around, but something caused him to take another look. This time, he found a strange, diamond-shaped hole in the air, from which a faint call issued: “Come to me, heroes of reality! Answer my call and serve your duty!”
A Call to Adventure? Perhaps he'll find the person he's looking for amongst the assembled 'heroes of reality'. Perhaps...
With a shrug, the Black Duke floated through the portal. He found himself inside a library, in which ten beings, all but one exuding magical auras, were already present.
“You seek my services?” asked the Duke, wondering who was his summoner.

Mobile Section One Combat Training Simulator, Mid-Childa. 0075.

The bearded, armoured man held his hand forward, palm orthogonal to the ground. He knew his captain was going to kick him, as usual, and was determined to stop the kick, this time.
“Clavidos!” he shouted.
His Device, a long-hafted glaive whose blade glowed with light-blue magical energy, responded: ”Stoischen Schild!”
A spinning, light-blue Belkan triangle appeared before the man's outstretched palm. He held his ground, and soon after, his captain charged forward, landing the kick on his shield... Which, as happened before, shattered, unable to contain the attack's power and letting the diminutive Device through; the kick hit him on the chest, and he flew backwards.
At that moment, a portal opened behind him. The occupants of the library would find that a short, bulky man was ejected from the portal and hit the wall of the room with a crash.

Yeesh, this is all they got? Oh well, work with what you have . . . I'll try to keep the portal open longer . . . Jaold thought, watching the antics of those arriving. "Welcome, great adventurers to the once-proud nation of Mazovia. We have been oppressed under the iron-fisted rule of the Elemental King for ten long years now, and I, Jaold Drotonroth, have called upon you from across universes to help free us from him." In case you're wondering, Jaold looks to be in his 50's and is wearing dark brown robes, with a variety of glowing runes along their edges - forgot to mention this in the last post.

"We, the resistance, will be happy to provide you with what supplies and transportation you need, and if you complete this quest successfully, there will be a great reward of riches and power at the end," Jaold said, bowing to greet the newcomers.

"If you take the stairs down here," Jaold said, motioning towards a door, "and head to the tavern called The Moldy Armadillo, your guides Grayvor Thordghrod and Ati Xi will fill you in on the rest of the details. They're really tall and really short - you can't miss them."

"I'd love to answer all your questions now, but unfortunately, all my concentration is required to hold this portal open and maintain this spell to solidify your existence - I can't leave this room or even take my gaze away from it - so I suppose you can't blame me if I'm a bit busy right now. (The only reason I can say this so easily is because I rehearsed it beforehand.)"

The door leads to some stairs which go down one flight, and end at an unlocked door to the outside, I'll put up the description once the first character gets there. Also, if you post right after this, you can safely assume your character arrived before this introduction, as I don't want Jaold repeating himself too much. :P

Aqua, blinking at the sudden disappearance of her subordinate, didn't bother to halt her forward motion and ground to a halt on the other side of the portal, her buff wearing off as she looked around. Quite a few people, how odd... maybe it would be a good idea to size up a little? Drifting over to where Mr. Long-Name was peeling himself off the wall, Aqua concentrated, cerulean triangles revolving beneath her feet as she grew to the grand age of seven. For a second, there was the surreal sight of a child partially armoured and wearing a bikini but then it was replaced with a mere swimsuit.

"Hey, you okay, Mr. Long-Name?"

Clarice scratched her head as she arrived, not being entirely sure how she'd gotten here. The air had been wobbling, right? Huh... and there were so many people! She'd never seen this many in her life and now here she was. Cheerfully, the bizarrely unclothed lamia waved at them, noticing that the girl she'd been heading towards had arrived with her and was sleeping peacefully on the floor, clinging to a scythe. How adorable!

Maria kept sleeping. People weren't being that noisy, yet.

"Clavidos, stand down," said the man. There was a flash of light, and his armour disappeared, replaced by a brown set of uniform — that of the TSAB Ground Forces; the glaive disappeared, too, and a dog-tag with a blue crystal in the middle of it floated down to the man's hand.
"Yes, ma'm, I am fine," he told Aqua. "By now, I'm used to getting hit by you." A hint of a smile played on his lips.
At Jaold's declaration, he visibly stiffened, obviously waiting for Aqua to decide.

Alice rubbed her head and walked over to Jaold Drotonroth. "Okay. I'm a corporate enforcer, not a revolutionary. But I'm not getting back to Earth 'til whoever you need stabbed to death is lying in a gutter, bleeding out slow. Am I right?"

She sighed. It had been a rhetorical question anyways. "Okay. Riches and power, my employers have more than enough of. So here's the story, Mr. Drotonroth. For my reward? Every strand of plant DNA on this entire damned world is property of Western Amalgamated Agricultural. The stupid stuff like gold and magical power and all that bullshit, the rest of those idiots can squabble over." She looked back at the rest of the group, waving dismissively. "Not counting the dickheads stupid enough to do it 'because it's right' or something, of course."

She figured he'd hear her, and so made her way down the stairs and out.

Jonathan tumbled out of the portal, slightly dazed. He pushed himself to his feet and rubbed his head. "Gah... the hell was I doing before this?" He glance around the room. Oh, great. It's going to be one of these days.

He quickly looked over himself. Everything seemed to be in the right place, and he still had all of his guns, grenades, and stuff. Good. And he was going to be killing (or at least helping to kill) an iron-fisted ruler. Convenient. He leaned against the wall, surveying the people around. Based on the looks of things, it couldn't hurt to keep his eyes open.

"Um, I'm not really in the best position to negotiate terms, but if you explain your request to the guides, I'm sure we can accommodate it," Jaold said, careful not to look away from the portal. What the hell is DNA? he thought.

[ Main Street ]

Upon opening the door and adjusting to the bright light, a small, relatively dumpy down could be seen. The door opened up to a dirt main street, grooves worn in it with the passage of carts. A few random people are walking about, and a cart is transporting vegetables down the street, pulled by an anemic donkey, it's owner walking beside. A few others are leaning against the wooden buildings and chatting, and a couple kids are chasing each other. Most of the buildings have only a residence name, but a few businesses are to the left, namely an open-air market, a shoemaker, a seamstress, barber, doctor, and a Tavern, with a sign saying, The Moldy Armadillo. A few other businesses and houses are visible further down, but are hard to make out from the doorway.

There's also something unusual about the sky, but you'd have to look closely to see it during the day, post if your character looks up carefully and I'll post that if so.

Also, this is just for if your character wants to look around outside, I'll wait to post any outside or Tavern interaction until we have more people here.

Things had been quiet lately.

That is not to say that there hadn't been any incidents lately that Ryuuzaki had to apply her special talents to resolve, but recent events had been rather minor and hadn't really required much effort on her part to resolve. Of course, this was no excuse to slack off on training. It could very well just be the calm before the storm, after all.

Had an onlooker been expecting her training to look like some strange, elegant dance that just so happened to be performed whilst weilding a sword, they would have been rather disappointed. Ryuuzaki was not a common entertainer, not some cheap floozy who only cared about appearances. No, she was a samurai. She was a warrior. And it showed more in her swordsmanship than anything else. Each blow she dealt was perfect; a fusion of power, speed and technique all rolled into one. This was her family's legacy, the forgotten kenjutsu school, the ultimate swordstyle. This was Shinken Densetsu, the True Blade of Legends. And in her hands, she held the blade that was her family's other, more shameful legacy...

Even whilst she lost herself in concentrating on her training, her finely honed senses noticed something amiss. Something... Was calling her. She couldn't tell what exactly, but... She just knew she had to heed the call. Someone needed her help, after all, and it would stain her honour to not help someone in need. So without a second thought, she sheathed her sword and slowly walked towards where she felt the call coming from.

"A cruel tyrant oppresses the people of this land?" she asked, after silently listening to the voice that greeted her upon stepping through the portal. "Such an act cannot be ignored... This one shall gladly serve as the hero you require." Noting that some of the others summoned here had immediately began to ask for a reward, she sighed loudly. "Helping those in need is the only reward one should seek. This one seeks nor needs any incentive."

With a loud crash, a girl in extravagant purple attire and a quite frankly ridiculously large purple hat tumbled out of the portal. "Owies... Well, at least I landed on something soft, ufu~"

Of course, the "something soft" this strange girl had landed on happened to be the girl she had followed here, and the girl she had been following all day. More precisely, the Dark Spellian Kirai had crash landed right on top of her rival's head.

Heroes? She thought, as she continued to perch atop Ai. Well... This could be interesting, ufufu~

With little to no fanfare, a young girl clad in green full body dinosaur jammies waddled through the portal, before sitting down by herself and sniffing the air. She didn't seem to be paying much attention to what was going on around her.

"...I'm hungry..." she muttered to herself, as her eyes wandered about the crowd nearby.

"Too busy? 'Kay then." The kitsune shrugged dismissively. If Portal Dude was busy with his portals... not much for it. If she wanted to know what was going on, might as well find that bar.

She turned to face the rapidly-expanding group. What a varied cast! If only she could comment on them all, but... "All right, guess we'll be going there. C'mon everyone! Save the conversations and stuff for when we're drinking!"

And with that, the kitsune headed for the door. She was gonna find a decent drink and see what was up.

What the hell is going on?! Cyndy thought, horrified. Why is there a naked snake?! Id she mocking me?!

Cyndy's priorities were clearly very straight.

Grumbling, Cyndy instead glanced at the throng of newcomers, wondering where the hell they were all coming from, and how many.

...

Was that a girl in a suit that was supposed to be some form of scaled monster? It was difficult to tell, but...

Clearly, she was mocking the dragon-girl. That little girl could take that suit off whenever she liked! Cyndy was forced to look ugly! Gah, the nerve of her...

Aqua nodded, gesturing for what's-his-name to get moving, before looking at the person that brought them here. Huh, they were even less impressive than that Yagami girl... and had the person just asked him for all the plants in the world? That wasn't right, at all.

Rapidly, the 'child' moved between the congregated figures and tapped the summoner on the shoulder, not waiting for him to look in her direction before speaking, "She's asking you for all the plants in the world. Do you own all the plants in the world, mister?"

Listening to the directions, Clarice picked up the child sleeping by her tail and headed for the indicated door... passing right by the T-rex as she did so, tail moving sinuously back and forth. It would likely present an extremely tempting target to bite down on, if she was thus inclined.

Ai, who hadn't actually broke her pose up until now, suddenly felt something impact with her head. With a yelp, she toppled to the ground and landed in a heap, now realizing that the person on top of her was indeed her rival. The laugh had pretty much identified her instantly. Since the dark magical girl had not gotten off of her, Ai found herself pinned on the ground. With a frown, she squirmed. Kirai had been her rival for a while, now, and that time had been spent with small skirmishes and the odd attempt at torment. Sometimes that attempt was very successful.

"Kirai-saaaaan, you're here too?" Ai whined, attempting to get up and force Kirai off of herself, "Get off of me!"

How had her rival gotten here so quickly, and landed on top of her, too? That wasn't likely with these things, right?

Akiko... stood there and swayed. There was a lot of things going on at once and the sleepy little girl couldn't really keep up.

She yawned.

"H-hello...?"

Kaori's arms sagged at her sides. This was weird and confusing, and there was nothing to punch or play awesome drums for. She wasn't dumb, but those were her best skills! So needless to say, she'd been hoping she'd get a chance to do that right off the bat. But no, there was just lots of odd people.

Alice looked around, noticing the others who had finally made their ways out. She started by walking beside the kitsune, which seemed to also be heading to the bar. Always good to know your crew. This whole mess reminded her of the Vegas job. But the one who'd dropped it on her this time didn't have delusions of cleverness. That was a plus. "Hey," she said, giving it a polite nod. "BITCHIN'!"

A strange girl shot from the portal like a rocket. Her hair had shades of blonde and red. It was a mystery what world she possibly could have come from. Her form was too odd to tell. She did look like a young teenage girl, but her hair was such a wild color and her clothing was so odd and constantly changing that she could have been from the farthest reaches of the most unknown universe.

Her legs turned into a spring and she bounced up and down.

"This is soooo cool! New adventure? I think so!" She turned into a kangaroo the same color as her hair, wearing boxing gloves.

"Who do I get to fight?"

"It seems that you have my and my commander's services, master Drotonroth," said the man. He saluted. "Sergeant Lucius Annaeus Astra Seneca reporting to duty. Sir!"
Nodding to Aqua, he followed Alice and the kitsune; he walked about a metre behind them, listening to what they said to each other.

The Duke shrugged. Power and riches? He didn't need these, just a cure for his curse. This looked promising; if that mage, Jaold, was powerful enough to pull all of those beings toward him, perhaps he would have it...
The Wraith followed the rest of the people and went outside. Hopefully the locals won't try to stone him as an abomination — it happened to him in the past and forced him, annoyingly enough, to manifest his hands and fix his robes.

Jonathan nodded. "Nice. I'm just a bit of a vigilante in my world." He glanced around the street. "I'm pretty sure this isn't my world, but maybe you know something more, being with what sounds like Space-Time Police. Or am I completely off about that?" He shrugged. "Probably doesn't matter that much anyway."

He pushed open the door to the bar. "The Moldy Armadillo? Who the hell names a bar the Moldy Armadillo? That's one of the worst names I've heard. Hey, you wouldn't happen to have any money, would you? Because, for all the summoning here to free the land, they sure stiffed us on funds, as far as I can tell."
