TV Tropes Needs Your Help
I think we need something from a work in here. Not to mention, the trope seems to be 'data imprinted on crystals'
Anime-tedIs the ST:TNG chip pic on the page close enough to work? I'm not where I can look at it right now. Gotta say, though, the current pic's amusing.
I like the current image.
In uffish thoughtDitto.
Happy puppyI considered using the Trek and Orions Arm images, but they aren't terribly strong. The Trek one is mostly colored plastic, not even gem shaped. The Orions Arm one is microscope views of the lattice. The best alternative was the B5 one, which does have a nice crystal on it... but it doesn't do much to show the "data" side. So when I ran into the current image on GIS, I thought, "why not?" it conveys both sides of the trope and it's pretty neat.
Cure CandyI would prefer using a real example, like an isoliner rod from DS9. IT'S A FAKE!!! comes to mind.

Happy puppyYou mean this guy?◊
It ought to be possible to get B5 screenshots of people sticking data crystals into computer ports.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.
Happy puppyGIS didn't do too hot for B5 or Stargate, however it did bring Quinlan Vos up.

The 4th panel?
Happy puppyLets put this to bed. Here's the alternatives, is either of these better than the amusement factor of the original?

Anime-tedBoth actually demonstrate the trope, so I'd say they're inherently better than the current, amusement factor aside.
In uffish thoughtI prefer the second one, and it won't hang down into the examples. Hopefully.
The current is better than the suggestions. It illustrates the trope without a single word of text. Unless someone genuinely thinks the picture will mislead readers into thinking it's a trope about USB drives, I don't see a reason to change it.
Anime-tedClock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
