These news are intereting. I'll see how it works before I'll say anything about it. "Good portion" can have various meanings after all.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Murfy.
I've taken advice from him. *
I've seen him get beaten up by the competitors. *
I've endured his 4th wall-breaking wisecracks at the start of the adventure. *
And now I have to play as him?
...Count. Me. In.

I say wait and see. I'm not gonna call it until I play it.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Project: Eeyup. Most likely.
It's also worth noting that even in the interview itself, if you listen closely, Morel says things like (after Murfy cuts some ropes to let down a platform) "Like, we'll make sure you don't have to cut down this platform in single-player..."
I can totally see the musical levels being automated, though. Looking at the way Rayman runs in that one, I can totally see that being automatic (like one of those "runner" games) with the focus being more on dealing with the obstacles Murfywise.
Honetly, I was more eyebrow-cocky about the prospect of licensed music, since I couldn't see how you could improve on the style Origin's soundtrack got going, and it seemed like it would be out of place and break up the wacky style of the game. But having heard the remix... seems alright. Still breaks my suspension of disbelief a little, but that was a pretty amusing remix.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaYou also spent a "good portion" of Origins on mosquito shoot-em-up sections and I thought those worked really well because they felt fun and fully-realized like the regular levels.
They have my trust that they can make non-platforming feel fun and not out of place in a platforming game.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianIndeed, they can, unlike a certain other series that I still like a lot.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. At the very least, playing Murphy seems a lot more fun than playing as General Major Block Placer Guy in NSMBU.

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianThe Rayman games I've played have had segments that aren't platformy in the least, yet they managed to make them work. I'll give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt here.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Although I have a feeling that when I play with my friends, there might be arguments over who gets stuck as Murfy. Actually, it might be a good role for my friends who aren't as good at platformers.
So anyone have any hopes for songs they want to see? Me, I hope they keep things sort of skewed towards "gibberishy" songs. Like, "Hocus Pocus" by Focus might be a good song, or maybe "Louie Louie." That way, they don't feel too out of place.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI realize that I'm a bit late to the argument, but here are my thoughts on the whole "Play as Murfy in single player mode" thing: The guy in the video said that you'd only have to play as Murfy for less that than half the game. I figure that'll be about 10-30% of the game, which, provided they make those levels enjoyable to play with Murphy, I'd be perfectly fine with. Besides, I have two brothers who also enjoyed Origins, so this won't affect me much anyways.
Also: Do you need your Rayman fix, but can't wait for Rayman Legends? Did you like the Tricky Treasure levels in Rayman Origins and wish you could have more of those? Do you like Autorunners? If so, then you're in luck, because Ubisoft just released Rayman Jungle Run!
While it's nice to see that Ubi has a lot of faith in Rayman's brand again, I really have no love of autorunners, so I don't think this is really for me. Cool to see Rayman get5ting back a little of the old spotlight, though!
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaSome details about the game from Nintendo Power.
Flamenco Eye of the Tiger? I'm in.
There's also a Hawaii luau version of Woo Hoo by 5, 6, 7, 8 (Never heard of it)
Seems they were mostly playing Rayman levels, so the balance may not be as bad as previously thought. It's not quite clear since they didn't really play the Murfy stuff.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI found a breakdown of that info. Regarding the Murfy stuff:
So yeah. Pretty much, they're the new Moskito levels, although the description makes it sound like they're less frequent, or more scattered through regular levels.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaBut the mosquito levels are the best part *frownyface*
Woo Hoo by 5, 6, 7, 8 is in/from Kill Bill 1, that same band plays it right before things get... messy.
As sad as this news makes me, I'm glad that Michael Ancel and the Legends team are taking as much time as they deem necessary to make Rayman Legends better.
And it (hopefully) won't get overshadowed by New Super Mario Bros U.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Hope that goes memetic.
FUCK.
First Pikmin 3, not THIS.
Now I'm stuck with Mario at launch.
EDIT: Whoops.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I don't mind. They took their sweet time with Rayman Origins, and it turned out more badass than a thing that's really badass. I have come to the personal conclusion that Michel Ancel is one of those artists where you just give him his freaking time and he will make you something marvelous. After all, they rushed Rayman 4 to meet the Wii launch window, and look where that got us.
(Though Rabbids Go Home was a gem in the rough. Shame the Rabbids aspect probably put most gamers off, because it was unique and genuinely funny.)
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaSo, they don't have faith in Legends? I guess I'll buy it, but only if Ancel is working on it.
I would say 'Dangit, Ubisoft'! But I guess everyone should get to play some Rayman.
And it's still a rumor anyway.

Hey, bromides, I know they're all encouraging us to get more exercise, but I don't think they meant jumping to conclusions. Apparently it was an honest mistake. There are Murfy gimmick levels a bit like the Moskito ones from the first game, but they are not the bulk of the gameplay. Morel misspoke, as do we all sometimes. Not to mention, English isn't his first language, and he was on the spot.
