This is a thread dedicated to the novels continuing the Star Trek saga, covering the original series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise. Discussion is also welcome on the novel only books, such as Starfleet Corps of Engineers, the Myriad Worlds books and the recent Department of Temporal Investigations.

Which novels are your favorites? What are you currently reading? What would you like to see more of?

Well, I like Vanguard very much. The final book is on top of my queue, followed by (finally) cathing up on typhon pact (and hoping the strings of It Got Worse stops :/ Its annoying enough in SW books)

New Frontier is awesome, though I haven't read the latest few...

I have to confess I dropped New Frontier a few years back. Good series, but I found Peter David was just getting too over the top for me. tongue

Just finished the two Department of Temporal Investigations books, VERY good reads.

really? Haven't picked them up yet (have the first somewhere among my ebooks, i think. But with the start of spring i'm edging back to hard paper and sitting outside instead of reading on my tab so not sure...) with all my backlog..but will put them on my "aquire and read" list.

Thankfully, English paperbacks are so much cheaper than the German translation...

Btw speculation time...given what i've seen of the next Typhon Pact books, I'm suspecting they're going to blow up Deep Space Nine and (finally?!) replace it with something which is not second rate cardassian junk. Whats your take?

You'd think it's getting past it's useable life, certainly. They've had to rebuild it a few times...

Reading the last Vanguard Novel (and hoping Mack writes more TOS, I like his writing in that era.). Had to chuckle when they said "Good that nobody lives on Ceti Alpha V, given that we blew up Ceti Alpha IV accidentially."

Also explains the whole "lost a planet" problem with Wrath of Khan. The redrew the star maps to cover it up.

Best line so far: "Captain Kirk, did you really met the Greek deity Apollo?" "I like to believe that he met me."

^^^ I'd hope they didn't blow it up, but disassembled it in a more controlled manner. All the debris flying around wouldn't do much good for traffic in the area, even with ST deflector shield tech available. Worst case, see "Kessler syndrome".

(Yeah, that bugged me about Babylon 5's conclusion, though I understand the OOC reason. tongue )

Read it yet? Not gonna spoil... grin

DAMN good book. I'm vaguely annoyed that there's gonna be a ebook only follow up. HATE ebooks.

If you're asking me, don't really follow STEU, just read some of the TOS books. I did read a TNG one (name forgotten) with the Russian carrier ghost ship thing, but it left me somewhat underwhelmed, killing off an already marginal interest in the STEU.

I don't THINK so. Sounds vaguely familiar. Do you know the plot?

The Enterprise finds a group of refugees and takes them in, I believe. They go to a world that is being constantly changed by the local life forms, and over the course of the novel come to an arrangement where the natives accept the refugees as friends and allow them to become part of their grand plan for their homeworld. The author's Howard Weinstein.

[up][up] No, doesn't sound like one I've read then.

[up] Yeah, tho it doesn't have as much of a death toll as Destiny, at least. [lol]

Double post but...I've been re-reading Star Trek Articles Of The Federation and I've thought...wouldn't more books like that be interesting? Maybe as a comparion series to the Typhon Pact books. I rather like the view upon the government side of the UFP, and not just for the world building...

Sadly it didn't sell that well, according to KRAD. Tho the novel Singular Destiny is sorta a sequel... tongue

sooo finished Raise the Dawn. I'm really starting to like Gell Kamenor. That woman has ovaries of pure Neutronium to pull a Pritchart like that. Hell, she's probably the first Romulan authority figure I'm really cheering for in a long time (even more than later Donatra).

also...if Kira and Vaughn are really dead I'm eating bowl of rotten gagh. Thats gotta be a Sequel Hook. And with Odo stranded in the Alpha Quadrant, this would leave Laas in charge of the Dominion? Not good.

Grah. More Books for my "write faster dammit!!" list.

I'm really wondering how the Autarch is going to react to Kamenors actions. Oh, Crap! would probably too much...
