Let's Play threads are very sparse here, and I personally believe that the mad genius known as PewDiePie should get a thread. So to that end, I have created The Unofficial PewDiePie Thread in his honor. Also as a belated birthday gift, cause according to my brother, yesterday was his birthday.

NOW ONTO THE DISCUSSION!

I haven't watched many LP's lately, not since I saw Slowbeef's Metroid Prime LP. When I first saw PewDie's LP's of Amnesia and Happy Wheels, there was much laughter. These are the most witty and humorous LP's I've seen since Slowbeef.

I don't normally watch video LP's, but a friend of mine showed me his videos, and his reactions are always hilarious.

Shouldn't this go in "New Media" or something?

The only other LP threads were archived, so I had no idea where to put this one.

Since it's video game oriented for the most part, I'd say it's close enough.

It's so sad that this thread has so few posts... Pewdie is hilarious

I'm not. Most of the threads I started died within three posts after OP.

The recent Walking Dead series is quite good too when it comes to quotes. I especially liked the "yeah, get him, Lee! ... Oh shit I'm Lee!"

I honestly think he's kinda annoying and his LOUD NOISES shtick is terrible. I prefer the somewhat more deadpan situational delivery of Total Biscuit.

THREAD NECROMANCY HO !

I've recently run into his channel, mainly because I got on his page on this very site. And I like it. It's pretty fun actually to see a guy having such a blast playing games.

But then I made the mistake of looking more into the Retsupurae debacle and look at haters' comments, including on this forum.

I... Feel kinda down, now. So much hatred...

Honestly, I tried watching a few of his videos, and I just don't like him. His commentary and sense of humor are so immature, it leaves something to be desired. He's not really a good let's player.

He's alright. Not ERMAGERD ERSERM, but alright. A good Lets Player.

As I watch more of his videos, I realize that he's funny in short bursts, but the moment he goes into a 20-minute long form Let's Play is the moment he gets much less funny and more annoying.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Pewdie was pretty fun early on, but lately his routine has gotten a bit...stale. Then again, I have lost interest in Let's Play videos lately.

Moving to New Media.

Speaking as someone who's been into Let's Play since it first came to You Tube from Something Awful, Pew Die Pie is everything I hate about the medium. I'm with the Retsupurae guys 100% on him.

Isn't he one of those guys who thinks an LP has to be filled with "Wacky" comments? Because those are just as bad as the guys who just tape their TV screens.

I dunno, does 'HE'S RAPING HER!' count as wacky?

Though the "wacky antics" go well with Happy Wheels and Amnesia customs like "The Small Horse", right?
