Yes, "Orwellian" is a bit of a buzzword, but you know what I mean. The sudden deletions were a bit too dystopian for my tastes.
And really, it starts with "porn." Because everyone reasonable will think removing that's okay.
But soon, it'll be things which cross a line or two once or twice, but are considered pornographic by an ad company that's doing all this in an attempt to avoid a lawsuit ten years down the road.
They don't care. That's the big thing to remember. They just want to not get sued. And we have to assure them that they won't.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.A reminder: a lot of stuff has been temporarily removed while everything is sorted out.
Take a lesson from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Don't Panic.
I'm just saying: this is how it starts.
Also: this
Well, I'd prefer an open and free site that's totally uncensored, but that's not an option nor is it what Fast Eddie wants. Operating within those parameters, you have to ask "what best meets the vision of what we're trying to do here." I think the 5P (I could have sworn it was P5) policy fits that task.
I don't think it's the "no porn" part that people are freaking out about so much as the "no 'pedoshit'". It's important to realize just how wide of a net a zero-tolerance policy regarding sexualization of minors will cast. Even if the work as a whole is not intended to titillate, plenty of works (particularly those originating in Japan) contain content that absolutely would be considered taboo according to the stated policy of not allowing anything that portrays minors (or technically-not-minors that nevertheless look like minors) as objects of sexual gratification.
What you are describing has no similarity whatsoever either to official policy or to admin commentary surrounding it.
And, once more, this is the right forum, wrong thread.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWell, just a reminder: if something is distributed in the US without the adult label, it's automatically OK'd. Thus, you can consider the bulk of works permitted in the US as a pretty good indicator of what kinds of things 5P won't be considering porn.
DAMNIT!

Well, that means that one of two official policies is being ignored then — either the zero-tolerance policy on "pedoshit" is bombastically overstated and won't be followed as-written, or the 5P is simply going to be ignoring the golden rule of No Such Thing As Notability.
Because plain and simple, there's plenty of stuff that's been released in the US without an adult rating that would run afoul of the "no pedoshit" policy as it's currently stated.
Well, can you give an example?
And don't say Sailor Moon. Seriously. Don't.
For the record-this might be a case of "Specific Beats General." That's a trope used to describe where general rules exist, but specific rules may override them. It's possible-don't take my word for it-that the "No exceptions" rule means that while pornographic works with a sufficient amount of non-pornographic artistic integrity are allowed, no pedo related materials-regardless of artistic integrity-would be allowed, unless they are already explicitly being distributed without the adult rating (as described specifically in the General Annoncements thread)

AHAHAHAHAHA, Someone added Clannad.
I'm laughing too hard to be offended.

Full Battle ModeThere is no contradiction. You are using the term 'pedoshit' in a much broader sense than it is defined in policy.
Also, this is still the wrong thread.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWait, what?
Huh, guess that Kanon mention was taken as a challenge...
Edit: Nice "reason"

We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Again-specific beats general. Read the specific rules of specific exemptions before complaining.
I cannot tell if N Denizen is being serious or engaging in hyperbole in order to "prove a point."
Let's not play internet psychologist. If you think someone isn't arguing in good faith, holler.
I'll let it stay on the list for Rule of Funny. As soon as the troll stops edit-locking it, I'll type a "defense".
Full Battle ModeRhetoric is an effort made to evoke an emotional reaction. Therefore it is an art, and subject to artistic criticism.
All of this rhetoric is shallow, derivative, and in the wrong thread.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableToo many posts up to bother with arrows, but...specific examples of things that passed the censors for US release but contain sexualization of minors? The Mahou Sensei Negima and Love Hina mangas would be good examples. Both were released with an older teen (16+) rating, but contain lots of fanservice, some of it (in fact, basically all of it in the case of Negima) involving minors.
To name one example.
Clannad isn't porn at all. I watched both seasons of the anime in full.
The spin off Tomoyo After does have sex scenes in it (haven't seen it, but know enough about it), but I would hardly say that it's without plot. Even if you disregard the spin off, there's still a well written story without any explicit porn in it at all (although a few fanservicey scenes).
As far as I'm concerned, a bit of fan service with characters of age in an otherwise very emotionally...
Whatever, I could go on, but suffice it to say that heads will roll if it's cut.
