God of War: Ascension (IV)

He already tried that, in both the first and third games. Didn't quite work out.

No I mean literally himself, not a metaphorical version. After 3, Kratos somehow finds his way back in time where Ascension takes place, and at the end he becomes Ares, and sets his own vents in motion!

We should make a list of Greek mythological figures Kratos hasn't killed yet. Let's see, there's

• Ouranos
• Chiron
• Nessus
• Dionysus
• Two of the Hecatonchires (one was killed in the comic)
• Stheno
• Rhea
• Artemis
• Apollo
• Phaethon (wow, Firefox's spellchecker recognizes that name)
• Orthros
• Eros
• Bellerophon

and whoever else I'm forgetting.

A story where we already know the ending sounds pretty lame, but let's not kid ourselves. God of War is an Excuse Plot, an excuse to set up ridiculous fight scenes and shit. Give me some epic dismemberments and it's all good.

Don't you need narrative for pacing to work?

YUP that's exactly what he's saying. He never said certain prequels aren't terrible so clearly he thinks they're all horrendous. Good going champ.

He also hasn't killed Aphrodite.

He doesn't need to.

He already conquered her in a Different way, afterall.

Kratos Reincarnated into Donte to ruin Dante's repuation.

Meh, I'll probably still check it out, but It's not all that high on my priority for future games.

I have Lollipop Chainsaw, Anarchy Reigns, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and Asuras Wrath DLC to look forward to more.

I wanna disagree with you on franchise zombie but your list of games is so good I can't really argue with you.

But I really think people are overreacting a bit, especially considering we don't really know a lot about this. I mean I know this is a website dedicated to analyzing fiction, but story in God of War has never been top priority and so far the game's maintain a high bar of quality.

Considering how many fanboys think Kratos is the angriest protagonist in a video game ever (Hell, The Angry Birds probably outrival him there), it's understandable why some people are annoyed with the series nowadays.

Well to be fair, story was never God Of War's strong suit......at least not to me.

Maybe I was hoping the developers would finally move on to something different.

Maybe god of war styled games with Egyptian Mythology, Norse Mythology, Hindu Mythology (This is not this type of game), or even the Cthulhu Mythos would probably be fricken cool.

As long as they learn from the mistake to not make all the weapons like chain blades (No matter how cool Chain Blade's are).

I wouldn't mind seeing a game adaptation of the comics. It could be a downloadable game split into 2 episodes (since part of it takes place before the games and part of it after the first one).

And/or an HD remake of Betrayal since basically nobody has played that one.

Well, she has faced much weirder things than Kratos could even consider and still come out on top, so that could actually be plausible.
