Yep, I know of the Wolf*. 300 Tdi engined bits of kit. I see a few around here, when THEY are busy near here. A few are getting out of service via Withams, but mostly because they're beyond economic repair.
Keep Rolling OnGiven a driving license and the money to buy a vehicle, tax, insure, fuel and run the thing, I would rather have a Wolf than anything else. Scottish roads are no place for super shiny cars if you want to keep them super shiny. Whereas a Wolf with a few surgically placed dents put in by a sledgehammer to discourage thieving types, is damned near ideal.
A standard 300Tdi Defender (or earlier) will do the job just as well — they're not cheap to buy, and you'll probably need to fix it once in a while (it's British, after all). But well, do your research first. Well, to start with there are at least three Land Rover magazines out there.
Keep Rolling OnI know, I pass them by on my weekly trip to buy Micro Mart. But Wolfs are just cooler. And the ones I saw had better seats than any previous Defender model.
You can get those seats on the civilian market, from Exmoor Trim.
They're probably not cheap, though, but few Land Rover bits are.
Keep Rolling OnThanks for that.
Yup there is that. Just before I left I saw my Squadron get the first of their Land Rover Wolfs. Nice vehicles from what I saw of them, and ideal for the roles we had in peace time.
