The problem with the image is that it doesn't show that Harley Quinzell is a doctor, nor that The Joker is a patient (indeed, both characters are more commonly known for other things).

This used to be the image on Love Makes You Crazy too, but it was removed so it could be left on this page. Would it work better there?

[up][up] Unless you're having trouble reading the caption, I *really* don't know how one would misinterpret this.

"As proof her feelings were certifiable, Dr Quinzel helped "Mistah J" escape from Arkham Asylum".

However, this trope is about how doctors and/or patients come to love each other. While the image is sufficient, it is missing the healing part. That part is implied, but it could be stronger. So I believe it illustrates, but we are lacking a suggested alternative from OP.

[up] That's the point. The caption does all the work and the image might as well not be there.

Things to note: 1. The Joker is dressed in a hospital gown - indicating he's a patient in some sort of health facility. 2. Harley is at least some sort of staff member in said health facility. 3. They're holding hands while she's helping him escape.

Interpretation: It might not be immediately obvious, but it's definitely there.

Conclusion: Keep Until Better Image Suggested

Not so. The key things to spot are Joker's hospital gown, Harley's staff ID tag and the hand-holding; none of which require knowledge of Batman to recognise.

I understand wanting to cut an image because the text is the only point of it, but this is clearly an image where the picture itself informs you about the trope.

The current picture doesn't have the right overall feel to it. How about a pic of the woman herself or [1] and [2]?

I'm more for pulling it since it's vague.

[up][up][up] I think showing the Trope Namer is better than a random comic book figure, yes.

The trope is "doctor falls in love with patient".

Joker/Harley is okay... Florence (?) is terrible.

I do agree that being the Trope Namer usually gives an image at least an edge over the others. In this instance, I'm not quite sureā€¦

Oh, and the Florence pic is not Just A Face And A Caption by definition. There's no Fan Myopia associated with it.

I have no idea who that is without being told. Not even the page title is much of a clue, and "This is Florence Nightengale" is a lame caption; neither it nor the image would help a reader understand anything.

The images in #12, particularly the third, are better than the current. They aren't great, but they're better.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

For the reasons reasoned in post #5, the current picture is still the best one. And no, you don't need to be familiar with the work for it to work, and you don't need the caption. While it was a while ago, I remember not recognising the characters before reading the caption, or text. The text, for that matter, regardless of anything else, means that the caption isn't necessary.

I don't understand the complaints.

The current picture clearly shows that the Joker is a patient, and that the woman with him is hospital staff of some kind. The fact she's holding hands and smiling while helping him escape heavily implies she's fallen for him.

It's a pretty good picture that demonstrates a rather complex trope.

If a better one could be suggested I'd be willing to consider, but all the ones suggested so far don't even come close to showing all parts of the trope.

The current pic is showing Love Makes You Crazy more than 'First aid is intimate.' What about this?
