This is more about whether the name is appropriate given the new crackdown on certain explicit tropes and works (you can see the situation on some currently locked threads on Special Efforts and Wiki Talk). The trope seems valid, but I'm wondering if we should tweak the name to avoid even the appearance of creepiness here.

The page could also use some looking over just in case it has creepy content, so we can clear it.

What exactly is wrong with the title? I mean, what in it can be seen as "creepy", or misconstrued? (I really have no idea about it, and don't want to guess)

I've hollered to get an official statement here.

By the way, is this trope defined explicitly as "waiting until you can have sex with them", or does it include cases of "two characters (one underage, and one grown-up) with mutual love between them waiting until it would be acceptable (legal) to act on their feelings"? I.e., does it cover romantic attraction, as opposed to sexual?

[up] I think it covers both. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

[up][up][up][up]It's the connotations of the term "jail bait" that makes me concerned. If it's okay, than good. If we need another name, then we need another name.

Is there a way to refer to this trope that's less "creepy" sounding than "jail bait"? I don't know how we can improve on that.

I'm not sure, but I think it's a pre-existing term? Regardless, maybe the whole article should be slashed? Because it either IS a character wanting to have sex with another (underaged) character, or it's about actresses in real life. With all the gutting we've been doing lately, this trope won't be present in too many listed works for long anyway...

Well it's still about avoiding something bad, not about celebrating it, which is a major difference.

[up][up] That's not "wanting to have sex with an underaged character", that's "refusing to have sex with an underaged character until they are not underage anymore". There is a difference.

And the article less pedo-ey than most of our pages. There's no legal or social stigma against lusting after 17-year-olds.

[up]A bunch of trope and work pages got nuked for explicit content and costing Google ad revenue. So looking like this is close to explicit is the problem.

"Jailbait" isn't "explicit", it's a common term.

[up]"common" doesn't mean "clean". Swear words are common, and they are explicit.

[up][up]Yeah, I do mean this trope skirts being explicit.

No matter what word is used to describe the trope, someone will have a problem with it not because to the title, but because of the subject. I think Jail Bait is not only appropriate, but is acceptable for the subject because it's true. Good looking underage boys/girls are indeed jail bait, and there's a good reason you'll go to jail for partaking.

So I think the name is not only good, but the fact that it neatly rhymes makes it perfect.

So yeah, it does not need renaming unless The Powers That Be specifically point that it does.

We literally just discussed this. Like, less than two weeks ago. If someone comes along in pink and say "everything's changed now, rename it," fine, but other than that I doubt it's gone so much to hell in less than two weeks that the decision on the last thread can't stand.
