I think it's good, because obviously a Nintendo game is not going to be about an old man with a banjo. We should add an in-game screenshot like this one◊ to show that no, it's really not about banjos.
And if a duplicate pic bothers people, I suggest changing the pic on Phalanx for the cover of its Gameboy version◊ or the possibly-NSFW Japanese cover◊.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! But that requires knowledge on Nintendo, something which you shouldn't need to understand an image.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerGoing to have to agree we need to show the "lie" here.
A second image showing gameplay and that game isn't a banjo sim might work.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!You could probably just pothole a link to an image or video of the actual gameplay in the caption.
Why not just edit the image by simply adding a screenshot beneath the cover?
If anyone is interested in replacing it entirely, there's a comic book cover (Flash #66) that promises a race between Flash and Aquaman, which is nowhere in the issue. The reason it might fit better?
The cover has the words "Warning! This scene does not appear in this issue!"

I'd rather keep the current picture
Actually that's pretty good.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! So the cover doesn't really lie.
I prefer a straight example myself.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. That cover would be lying if the scene does appear in the comic.
I like the old banjo man thingie. It's a great example. Caption only needs to add a little for someone completely unfamiliar to get it. There is a difference between being an example right there in the image, whether that's readily apparent or not, and being an example but only if you know other things about the subject outside the context of the image (JAFAAC).
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Banjo works rather well. There is a part about, "the hyper-speed shoot-out in space," which obviously does not relate to the banjo man.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Loving the current image.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn! The current is so silly that I don't see how it could be improved on.
The reason I suggested a lampshade example is because any straight example requires some knowledge on the part of the reader. The current picture fails to get the point across unless you know the game. I didn't, and even after reading the description, I figured maybe the game had some connection to a swamp. Unless you know the material, you don't know that's there's zero connection.
A lampshade example doesn't have that problem. There's no doubt left when the cover says "This isn't in here."
The image I suggested certainly isn't the best, but I think that a lampshade example of some sort would be better.
That is a valid point, but given that:
- The game seems straightforward in its space-shooting premise, and is unlikely to feature an old man with banjo—it is reasonable, without context, to see the design as an oddity.
- The nature of the trope is such that lampshading somewhat diminishes its validity as an example.
- The caption is a full-fledged complementary element to the image, and so it makes little difference whether the disclaimer is dead text or serving as a caption.
- The image is funny.
I lean towards keeping the current.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Since this trope is easy to understand just based on the name alone, it doesn't matter how clearly the picture represents the trope. May as well just go for the one that looks best, and right now that's probably the current.
So... new IP thread for that page, and lock this one?
somethingEh, no need. Let's just use one from the second post.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerFor Phalanx, I'd recommend the Game Boy cover.
EDIT: Crap, it's got that copyright thing in the corner. Found one without it◊.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!That works fine.
This discussion suggested the Volume 1 cover of◊ Elfen Lied as an image change. They even like this image better than the current image on Covers Always Lie, which I agree.
EDIT: A later post had a 300px one.

Fandoms are insane.I don't see what's so lying about that cover. I still think the banjo guy on a shoot-em-up is a much clearer example.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Banjo guy on a shoot 'em up is thousands of time clearer than the generic anime girl on the generic manga cover. Also funnier.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
I don't know if I'm missing something here, but I don't see what the cover is supposed to tell me by itself. But more importantly, this is a duplicate image. The same image is on Phalanx.
I was thinking of something from Elfen Lied, but there's just so much gore, it's impossible to find something SFW.
