Aaaaaand here we have it.... The epilogue. Only it isn't like an epilogue at all, and more like a multi-chapter new arc. What? o_O
Well some things have been answered though. The most obvious of course is Teiichi is still going to school, so the ending we got at chapter 45 is apparently all symbolic than anything.
Two, is that the other students seemed to have just accepted that Yuuko is a facet of their school — they even have an empty desk for her in Teichi's class (which obviously becomes an object of Yuuko's hauntings when she bonks her head on it when she fell asleep in the middle of class).
Three, it seems like the paranormal investigation club is back in business... Except its now investigating stuff outside of the school too. And since Yuuko can follow them outside of the campus now, this new case becomes a fun diversion for her for a change.
And what, we have a new character? Scratch that, we have two new characters. My word.

New characters for new arcs isn't really that unusual, especially in this series.
It's a bit strange calling it an epilogue when it's basically a new start, and not in an And the Adventure Continues kinda way.
Since students accept that she exists, I think it would be funny if the ones who can see her would describe what she does. "Oh, that was just Yuuko banging her head into the desk because she fell asleep, and now she's blushing like a fire truck in terrible embarrassment because you're all staring at her." She'd love that, I'm sure.

So... are we supposed to assume that Yuuko's still on Earth because of the same reason as the anime's ending (Teiichi himself becomes her 'unfinished business')?
Also, it doesn't seem like the other students are used her presence any more now to me; their mixed rumor/disbelief dialogue is still more or less the same as before.

Peace. Pace. Sanity. Check out my DeviantArt! ^_^True, but it would be funny.
Check out my fanfiction!Seems like it's finally ended. Not sure what to think about it.
Yes, Yuuko, you're pretty. Even with a silly grin like that. Or maybe especially so?
I think this until death do them a part kind of ending is the only one fitting. It could have ended with her disappearing before, but there were some details I don't like about that, though it was more pronounced in the anime.
Check out my fanfiction! And Teiichi never got a good night's sleep ever again.
Also, with the way Yuuko was talking about knowing your loved one's feelings as well as your own, I was expecting her to reveal herself to Yukariko and try to give both of them closure.

Well, rhetorical questions aside, I liked the epilogue. It feels like there could be a few more chapters spun from the this new status quo, but I suppose it's better that this series didn't overstay its welcome like some shounen do.
I think most anime that doesn't just go on and on ends too quickly. If there's one thing anime tends to suck at, it's endings. This didn't just end when the main story was concluded (like the anime did), but went on a bit to properly lay down how it continued from there, and then ending. It can still continue from here, but then the premise is a little different, since the story about Yuuko is more or less finished.
Check out my fanfiction! Finally got around to reading the final manga chapter and I must say that it was a nice way to end it. I feel the manga did a much better job of wrapping things up than the anime and I did quite like the conclusion to the Slit Mouthed Woman story as well.

Well with only the epilogue left, this is definitely a better ending than the anime version. I think it is more Spirited Away than anything. I did love the colour pages with the cherry blossoms.
