Source?
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodFor starters the fact that every other outlet carrying this story is parroting the fact that that place reported it first.
Let's also keep the provenance of the source itself in mind; The Onion isn't the only satire site out there, after all.

"Yup. That tasted purple."Well, lots of digital ink for something that wasn't true in the first place... now I feel like an idiot.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Well, false alarms always make things easier after you figure out that's what they are.

Next the Protestants, the Catholics...
Technically the Presbyterians are Protestants. It's a pretty big tent.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. As a result of the Protestant label basically meaning "not Catholic."
Had a question- does someone have a good source showing that Pope Francis didn't make that comment comparing transgender people to nuclear weapons.
It does seem like an iffy/likely made-up quote, but it is cited by a lot of fairly legitimate sources (even if they are all ultimately citing the same source).
I've been trying to find something like snopes.com and/or a later correction by the news organizations who reported it, but I haven't found it.

Presbyterians aren't just Protestants, they're Calvinist. John Knox must be spinning in his grave.
Trump delenda estNot necessarily. The Church of Scotland is Presbyterian and they're ordinary, moderate protestants.

My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.I wouldn't argue that the current Church of Scotland is a reasonable bunch. It's founder was another story. Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women anyone?

Trump delenda estJohn Knox. Crazy as a shitehouse rat that one. Still, he learned from the best.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiJohn Knox was all kinds of crazy. Nobody can go around a country preaching to crowds, risking the worst punishments for heresy, and single-handedly laying the foundations for a national church while being entirely sane. He was a hero to the established Kirk, but not an example to follow.
What you should know about the historical Kirk is that for centuries in the Lowlands and cities it ran a very strong locally-based, socially-controlling theocracy. My grandmother did an extensive study on this (Girls in trouble : sexuality and social control in rural Scotland and Sin in the city : sexuality and social control in urban Scotland, 1160–1780). Worth seeing for what a protestant church can do when in power.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.>John Knox wrote Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women
Now this explains a lot. RIP Pterry.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Martin Luther wrote On the Jews and their Lies. Some of the Reformers said some pretty horrible things.

Schild und Schwert der ParteiAt best the Reformation was a case of Grey-and-Gray Morality, if not Black and Grey and I ain't about to get into who was the black and who was the grey because that would be opening a can not of worms but of cobras..

Trump delenda estPerhaps the Pope did compare Trans people to nuclear weapons, and just so happens to be very pro-nuke.
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"Pope Francis plays Civ against Gandhi a lot
I'm kinda glad I didn't hold out hope that the new His Holy Ignorance would be sympathetic to the LGBT community. People can't disappoint you if you have no expectations of them to begin with. My condolences to those who did trust him, however.
Suppose it depends on what one means by "sympathy." It's looking more and more as if the "nuclear" quote is spurious; other than that, I'm not sure what else one can reasonably hold against Francis.
Has the man himself ever actually denied the quote?
As far as sympathetic goes, acknowledging that trans people are not a threat to the future of humankind would be a nice start. I know it seems stupid that we live in a society where such has to be explicitly said, but it is what it is.

Yeah I was going to say, where is the source for this quote and is it reliable? Because I'm also seeing articles about Pope Francis inviting a trans person to come visit him, and using the right pronouns, and in general not treating him like somebody he's just compared to a nuke...
Be not afraid...
