A dress is at least usually visible to characters, while only a reader can judge prose's purpleness (excluding rare instances of a Show Within a Show like that time Rachel tried writing a "steamy" romance novel, and that was pretty borderline as I recall). Still, I'm inclined to leave this objective, mostly because there are blatant parody examples such as Song Of The Sorcelator or Atlanta Nights (where it's even juxtaposed with Beige Prose for added impact).

The page's examples contain too much complaining, and the standards on what writings qualifies as "Purple" or "florid" is too subjective.

There's also no objective line between a pimped-out dress and a regular one. Should that be YMMV?
