I'll just come right out and say this; recently, many people have been pointing out the flaws found within Goku, and on occasion, Gohan and Goten, and don't even get me started on how many people have been bad-mouthing Chi-Chi. All while pointing out the reasonings behind the behavior of characters like Vegeta for example.
Now, i will admit that some of the points made for the aforementioned subjects are pretty sound and hard to deny. But, can somebody just humor me point out the good character traits and achievements that make the Son Family great in their own ways? I mean, the series itself has taken the opportunity to praise them from time to time, so why can't the fans?
I don't think any really denies they have good points.
And on Vegeta, while he has legitimately come a long way, I find a lot of people overstate how much better he's become just because the bar was so low to begin with.
Fans always focus on the negative. It's just how people are.
What we can say about Goku is that he never gives up, he does love his family and friends (even if he has a hard time showing it sometimes), and while he loves combat he doesn't like seeing innocents hurt.
We have that moment all the fanfiction writers wrote about where a villain kills Chi-Chi and Goku goes berserk over it, does that count?
I have to wonder: if Toriyama hated the idea of Goku being a Superman-like hero, why did he ever let this happen?
Is that the actual fucking music they used.
No, it's an AMV
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Eagel sssh. That is the actual music from the movie.
Most of the dubbed music has a lot of rock n roll.
Usually whenever I recall DB stuff from my childhood memories it all sounds very metal.
Just listen to Broly's theme "Panthera".
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I always forget that the dubbed movies did that. How in the world did you Z Anime watchers tolerate that?
Well I was child so I didn't know any better but I thought it was awesome.
Still do.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I thought the Broly transformation was fucking awesome because of the Pantera music. Hell, I still play it in my head when I'm writing evil powering up.
My various fanfics.I like the type of music used in the dubbed movies.
Didn't mind it.
I remember they used this song when Bardock confronted the Frieza goons that killed his team:
I wasn't aware they changed it for a good long while, until they started airing just Dragon Ball and left the music alone, probably because they thought it fit better.
More than a few of those songs for me were the kind that you wouldn't really like normally but they were awesome when used in context.
This song needs more love.I mean DBZ can get pretty metal.
The movies are pretty much alien/demonic/cyborg warlords invading Earth & being stopped by super macho martial artists who can shoot explosions from their hands/mouths punctuated by intense screaming & their hair turning golden in brutal climactic fist fights to the death.
How is that not metal?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I had the headcanon that Vegeta's mother name is Shallot, and he wanted to give Bra that name because of her.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Yeah, I don't think I ever found the music out of place until I saw the Lord Slug movie.
While reading some volume of the English translation of Bleach, I suddenly had an idea.
The final villain of Super could a demonic entity whom is a ripoff of either Aizen or Yhwatch, a brilliant Chess Master villain who is pulling the strings and constantly winning consecutive rounds of Gambit Speed Chess against the heroes no matter what they do, making Ass Pulling an art form. Zen'O, however, does nothing to help out, confident that Goku and his friend will eventually triumph against this villain, though mostly he doesn't intervene because its more entertaining to watch Goku rise up like he usually does.
However, when it becomes increasingly more and more apparent that the villain really cannot be defeated by the heroes, Zen'O decides he'd had enough and just destroys the villain completely with no fanfare and no warning. By the time Zen'O steps in, the audience would also have had enough of the villain's shenanigans and wanted him dead by now, thus possibly proving the theory that Zen'O is a deliberate representation of the franchise's target audience.
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!I think the reason why the likes of Beerus work is that they subvert the Invincible Villain trope. Yeah, they're dangerous and far surpass our heroes...but unlike most Dragonball protagonists they're grayer and easier to convince. Or something, I dunno
My headcanon is that Vegeta's mother is called Taria. As in "Vegetarian"
You basically described how the Future Trunks Saga played out.
Why not have everybody in the royal family be named Vegeta?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I asked a similar question in another forum but it was more about the fandom (and extension Super) seem to over exaggerate Goku's selfish qualities. When I first heard about Goku's true personality from a Youtube comment of all things when I was watching the Gohan vs Super Buu fight, I was kind of floored and I was shocked. Goku did have some flaws but he isn't without virtues as well. Goku never gives up, he always seek out new challenges, he cares about his family and friends and he also seems to avoid collateral damage when he fights. It seems as though Goku has some selfish qualities to him, I notice that they tend to over exaggerate to make him more selfish than he actually is. Goku is no saint but he isn't this selfish, sociopathic monster who enjoys fighting above all else.
