What's your favorite DBZ Filler movie? I'd probably go with the first Cooler film, due to Cooler himself being a pretty kickass villain and it also being one of the few Filler movies you might be able to actually fit into the timeline without too many issues. The first Broly movie is pretty cool too.

I pretty much agree with both of those posts.

Except for the part about how Tien might have known Goku would bail him out. I sincerely doubt that was ever on his mind at all.

Also yeah, Chi-chi and Piccolo interacting more would be interesting. This is the woman who got him to try and get a drivers licence and help her with shopping. It's good stuff.

To be fair, Goku never really ignored the Drawbacks of Kaioken. He still felt them the last time he pushed himself using it, and that was with the Kaioken x20 against Freeza. Problem was that Goku's body got too good at enduring insane amounts of punishment.

My favorite of the old Toei films is Fusion Reborn.

Wrath of the Dragon. The ending is still a humungous cop-out, but it's not as bad as some people make it out to be (Goku isn't inexplicably stronger than Gohan and Gotenks, but he does inexplicably figure out that Hirudegarn's weakness is not being afraid of it) and the parts with Tapion and Trunks are great, even if Tapion's sword being implied to be the same as Future Trunks' sword hurts me physically.

What even is it? Goku punches a golden Shenron into existence which attacks his target?

Budokai 3 gave the best presentation of the Super Dragon Fist.

I do like the Dragon Fist technique, even if it is the most blatant killsteal.

Eh, I've always thought that the Dragon Fist was just punching so hard it made a flashy golden dragon appear.

I think it's just something Toei thought would look cool. It's not supposed to make sense.

On paper, they might have been trying to call back to Goku punching through Piccolo Daimao. The way the Oozaru flashed on-panel/screen to indicate that Goku was conjuring every ounce of strength he had for this deadly blow.

But it misses the fact that Shenron, while cool and a staple of the franchise, has nothing to do with Goku's power. Reality-breaking super power also has nothing to do with Shenron, who is a wish-granting dragon not famed for his physical prowess.

Thus, "Goku punches so hard that his energy turns into a giant golden Shenron" is a sentence made out of gibberish.

So it's a sentence made out of what made Dragon Ball awesome.

Wrath of the Dragon was trying to do something original with the story, so I really enjoyed that.

And while it's not the best, I always like going back to Bojack Unbound to imagine the scenario in which Gohan did remain as the main character.

I think most of the movies have the potential ideas in them to be good movies. They just weren't used very well.

Insert "except Broly" joke here.

Eh? If they left out the Legendary Super Saiyan bullshit, I bet even the original Broly movie could be salvaged.

The funny part about Bio-Broly is that it could be salvaged by removing Broly.

Actually, even the Legendary Super Saiyan thing could be salvaged.

Broly's " Legendary Super Saiyan " form could have just been his own version of Super Saiyan 2 cause by a freak mutation in his genes, instead of what the first Broly movie tried to say it was.

I'll also second the idea of Bio-Broly being a much better film if Broly was removed from it.

The first Broly movie has a pretty interesting concept. You know, sort of "what if there was an ACTUAL legendary Super Saiyan who had all the traits everyone said a Super Saiyan had? And then he'd be stronger than the other Super Saiyans."

It falls apart with Broly's backstory. Or rather, him having to have a grudge on Goku.

Seriously, "Broly having an eternal hatred for Goku because he cried a lot as a baby" is literally the most stupid excuse for villain motivation I have ever heard.

Well there's also the fact that he was a) stabbed in the gut as a baby on King Vegeta's orders, b) thrown into a trash heap along with his barely living father, only to have to ascend to Super Saiyan, as a baby, to get him and his father away from Frieza blowing up the planet, and c) placed under mind control by his own father, who forced him to obey him without question for who knows how many years.

That's all fine. If ya just took out the Kakarot trigger, I think that would deal with a lot of the Broly-based complaints.
