I ended up doing hard mode after all, so that I could drop back down to Normal with my elevated levels and finish the remaining routes more quickly. A lot of the game was significantly harder, but the final battle was kind of astonishingly anticlimactic. Whereas my characters were about 22-30 levels higher than they had been at the same point in Normal mode, and the enemies in the last few battles were about 24-32 levels higher than they had been, the Eternals had only gone up about twelve levels, and I ended up steamrollering even the ones that had required some strategy the first time around.

...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.

Yeah, once you know the trick it's just a matter of dealing with that and then you easily win. Like just make a few groups that can survive Shun's 'stop all your actions' move and he's really easy.

Actually, for Hard mode, I was planning to let my sub spirits be cannon fodder for his attack, since I'd already seen all the ending scenes you get when you keep them alive. I was expecting him to be a lot stronger though. Even with the increased number of attacks, I could have tanked them all with my main party.
