The pic on Commonplace Rare shows the hero buying something for a lot of money. However, it needs the caption to point out what exactly the hero is buying, because the image doesn't tell us.

Perhaps we can add an earlier image of the same game, that shows the shopkeeper telling us what he sells?

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!

Old School.

The "this took a lot of effort" part of the trope is very difficult to demonstrate without simply saying it in the caption.

[up] Yeah, there's no picture to depict the 80 yard death match past Sorcerers in the Ice Cave on the second floor just to get the floating rock in the first place you need to get your airship, which you need to get the smelly rat's tail.

I used to think that too, until someone pointed out that you can just land the ship at the tiny little river near the castle of ordeals. That won't get you the class change, because you still need the airship to reach Bahamut, but it will get you the Zeus Gauntlet (which is useful in ice cave) and a decent powerleveling spot with the scripted zombie dragon encounter on the tile in front of that rat tail chest.

Either way it requires at least a little familiarity, which makes it less than ideal.

I think the current picture is fine since something that is expensive is by default 'difficult to obtain' for the player. The Zelda suggestions only shows the player receiving an item, and not at all that it was difficult to obtain. The scarcity of empty bottles in Zelda is a bit too minor an aspect of the game for people to immediately get the reference.

I say keep until a better suggestion surfaces.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested, though I agree that it could definitely be improved

[up][up]On the other hand, anyone familiar with Chrono Trigger will quickly remember that it features Money for Nothing, so the current image only works for someone who hasn't played it. Also, getting jerkey is a far more minor element (used for a simple Fetch Quest or two according to Chronopedia) than the search for empty bottles in nearly every Zelda game.

I agree with Keep Until Better Image Suggested, but I also think the Zelda image is slightly better.

It's a bit nitpicky. Normally I'd vote for Keep Until Better Image, but this War on Caption can set a bad precedence, so, tentative Keep I guess. :|

(To sum up, the argument at #8 is far stronger than #1.)

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
