with an anime you (generally) only have to translate the spoken language. Even in dialog heavy works, that might be about the equivalent of a short chapter in a book.
Ah yes, I forgot about that...(it's the reason why I subconsciously avoid writing my book...I always think about how much easier it would be to convey things to a viewer of an anime or something instead of something text-crazy even with illustrations)
I still don't think that it's more difficult to translate the book though, since when I think of subbing something, the speed of their video editing is what amazes me over the translating itself.
Also I was thinking more of the releasing speed rather than the translating...not sure how I got derailed to translations enough to forget about that until now.
TV anime comes out every week or so...manga tends to come out monthly...as for L Ns
