Three Months...

Three months is all it took for the world to go to complete and utter shit. The nation is in a state of total collapse as a plague reanimates the dead; nowhere is safe. Thousands are dying, and thousands are rising from the dead. In every town, on every street-corner...the plague is present. A high fever coupled with delusional rage. Advanced stages of infection create advanced necrosis and decreased blood flow. The end result has the body naturally shutting down on itself.

The fever burns you out, necrosis rots you away, and you gradually die as your blood stops flowing. Reanimation occurs later on.

Though scientists and officials are baffled as to what can cause such a disease, they have noted that the disease seems to isolate the brain into a individual organism. Essentially, killing off the need for any other organ (Skin, stomach, liver, etc.); except for the lungs to a certain extent. The brain controls the host's body with the sole intent of spreading the plague via bite, scratch, etc.

Players take the role of a survivor within a small group of two to three others. Together they will struggle to survive what is known as the Zombie Apocalypse.

All players must be on the same evacuation bus at the beginning of the RP. The bus breaks down at a highway gas-stop outside of an overwhelmed city and acts as the starting location.

As a GM, I tend to be a hardass but I do so because I like my R Ps to have a style of quality to them. If you follow the rules, then everything should be great and fun.

RULES (Subject to change frequently)

  • Character Submissions
    • Characters must be average people without an occupation within law enforcement, or the military. They cannot have a past that regards either.
    • Characters must not have any experience with firearms! This RP is largely character-driven so character development is a must. Everyone starts out as a "wet noodle", but gradually learns to cope with the apocalypse; this means learning new skills like proper handling of firearms, sewing, etc.
    • As stated previously, all characters are to be average-day people. This means no anime characters, silly hair colors, John Rambo types, and etc. I will not accept submissions that have such qualities.

  • Realism Rules (Taken seriously.)
    • There will not be any sort of beginning weaponry at the start of the RP. The intended beginning of the RP would make it illogical and unrealistic to have the characters start with weapons.
    • All characters must have flaws. In fact the character sheet will have you need to list a flaw. (Or more.)
    • All characters at some point will get injured. Be it serious, or paper-cut level. Hell, make it so your character gets a hand slammed in a door or something.
    • Wounds do not heal overnight. I expect you to use realism when dealing with wounds. Granted, I do not want you killing your character off but I do want some sort of realism in the handling and care of wounds.
    • I didn't put survival in the title for nothing. Eat, drink, even urinate.
    • Ammo does not magically reappear. We go on raids for a reason. Ammo is precious, so it doesn't reappear; if your character finds ammo then state how many shells/bullets/magazines they found. This goes for other supplies as well.

I'm sorry if I drove away anyone looking to have some sort of fun with my rules. It's just that I'm a stickler for having realism in my R Ps.

So...is any sort of interest, despite my wall of laws?

NOTE: This is a small group RP. I will pick only two to three other people.

Character Submission Form Please use this...

  • Name: (Must be "common-sounding" and original, i.e not a blend of the names of your favorite video game characters.)
  • Age: (18 - 60)(Also, please not all twenty-somethings.)
  • Gender: (This should be self-explanatory.)
  • Occupation: (Non-law enforcement, and Non-military.)
  • Traits: (Are you clumsy, hot-tempered, emotional, etc.)
  • Flaws: (Can be both mental and physical. Be wary with mental flaws, though. I may or may not allow certain flaws.)
  • Appearance: (Again, self-explanatory.)
  • Brief Biography: (EXTREMELY BRIEF. I want there to be scenes of characters discussing their non-zombie killing lives.)
  • Unique Skills: (Can be related to your character's occupation, should be useful for survival.)

  • Name: Anna Marshall
  • Age: 32
  • Gender: Female
  • Occupation: Civil Rights Lawyer
  • Traits: Hot-tempered, Demanding, Logical
  • Flaws: Demands that things go her way, and is bound to argue when it doesn't. Her temper sometimes gets her into trouble.
  • Appearance: She has fair brown hair that she wears tied in a bun, and blue eyes. At first, she wears a medium length skirt with a tweed jacket. Underneath she wears a white tank-top. She (briefly) wears a set of high heels.
  • Brief Biography: She graduated law school to become a civil rights lawyer, and found herself in a law firm that paid her well. During the First Outbreaks, she found herself in a evacuation camp. She missed the last of the air evacs, and managed to snag the last of the evacuation buses...

Your realism obsession has one crucial flaw: zombies. If we're being realistic, they're mostly-decayed sacks of flesh in no fit state to be intimidating anyone; a leisurely stroll would be enough to avoid them. If we're not being realistic, they're actually some threat but all your restrictions look weird. >.>

  • Name: Mariana Susi
  • Age: 24
  • Gender: Female
  • Occupation: Unemployed, lived at home with parents
  • Traits: Kindhearted, patient, and forgiving
  • Flaws: Despite her personality, she suffers from a mild case of depression. Without her medication she becomes melancholic and becomes slightly self deprecating.
  • Appearance: She has dyed pink hair tied in a pony tail and blue eyes. Because she hasn't dyed her hair in awhile, her natural blonde hair color is starting to be vaguely seen in the roots. She wears a long black coat over a white, button up blouse and shorts. She refuses to part with the coat no matter how hot it gets.
  • Brief Biography: Dropped out of college after less than a year. She moved back in with her parents and never moved back out. She never seemed to keep a job before now, always quitting for reasons she rarely discloses.
  • Unique Skills: None, never learned any.

As for the odd hair color, people dye their hair all the time, I even said in the bio she dyed it. And yes, pink hair dye exists, google it.

The obvious exception to the realism are the zombies. I am aware that it is biologically impossible for such a thing to exist, and that if it did...they would be bloating piles of rotting meat that would most likely be a mere hindrance in your walk to work; not exactly the stuff of Romero. This RP is a work of fiction, which allows one to creatively allow things that do not/cannot exist which I am doing with the undead.

I just want to see if a survival RP could work on here, with the players acting in a realistic manner; i.e eating, sleeping, drinking, etc.

  • Name: Lily Calvin
  • Age: 19
  • Gender: Female
  • Occupation: Student
  • Traits: Energetic, and very eager. Somewhat too eager in most cases, perhaps. Nothing seems to dampen Lily's mood, at least not outrightly.
  • Flaws: She has a rare genetic disorder that results in physical symptoms such as extremely pale skin and sensitivity to sunlight. Lily is also physically not particularly strong.
  • Appearance: Lily is small and slight, with brown hair and pale skin. She usually wears clothing in varying shades of black. She is somewhat immature-looking, as well.
  • Brief Biography: Lily moved to America only recently, having previously lived in various European countries. She managed to be picked up by the bus from the camp.
  • Unique Skills: A fast runner and fairly athletic, though not particularly strong. Good with wiring.

Lily is accepted. Welcome to the RP.

As for, Marianna...I feel that an amnesiac is too "used" in R Ps. Granted, the character is fine (Hair color is a bit strange) and all just that I rather not have an amnesiac. Sorry!

Also...

I am now looking for character submissions with the following: Male gender, and being above the age of 20. Also, refrain from posting just student as your occupation. Anything will do, even a pizza boy.

... I have never seen an amnesiac in a roleplay. Ever. O_o

Why a male? Arbitrary desire for balance? >.>

I need some sort of male presence for gender balance. And I've had amnesiacs in previous roleplays before, and though the concept of being a mysterious stranger without a past is fun and all...it's a bit annoying when their back stories are revealed to be some sort of tragic event that sends the whole character into an emotional roller coaster for the entirety/remainder of an RP.

Seriously, I've had surprise rape backstories in R Ps that would shock the spots off a cow.

Actually, if they're down to three people there's not enough population sample to enforce that "gender balance" rule. The world is Ruled by the Law of large Numbers. However the Law of Averages which most people believe is not true.

I'm creating a group of four people. I stated three before, but that was only if there wasn't a sufficient amount of interest. I may even go higher.

... somehow, I don't think four people is enough to bring gender balance into play, either.

Still a too small sample to enforce it. Roughly the probability if we assume an equal survival rate (which wouldn't be too far fetched as gross stimation) would yield that the unique case of 4 girls actually being survivors has a 1 in 16 chance of happening, which isn't by far a very rare event.

Fixed.

Though I would have never done a rape as backstory. sad

I was planning the trauma of the epidemic itself to have caused the amnesia and she was a normal girl before then. But whatever.

I worded the sentence wrongly. By gender balance, I meant that I wanted a male presence. Not to equally divide the group into gender.

  • Name: Ashley Smith
  • Age: 29
  • Gender: It's... complicated. Male, apparently.
  • Occupation: Lumberjack
  • Traits: Extremely hot-tempered... and seemingly unhinged by the death of everyone that he cares about, to the extent that he bursts into laughter incredibly easily.
  • Flaws: Excessively emotional, which includes displaying completely the wrong emotion for things. 'Sadness'? He just has manic laughter.
  • Appearance: Tall, with oddly long hair for someone whose job involves chainsaws. Really, Ashley is a heavily muscled blonde six feet tall... and wearing a dress. Not the most fitting attire and he could really, really do with a shave now but a zombie apocalypse is no time to dawdle... and at least he managed to bring some earmuffs with him...
  • Brief Biography: Born. Raised. Always seemed somewhat odd. Went into the lumberjack business. >.>
  • Unique Skills: Well, he can use a chainsaw—and since he'd barely gotten home from work when this mess started, he brought the damn thing with him for completely obvious reasons—and he's strong. What else would you expect?

I'm done. Why did I even attempt to roleplay again...

The concept was simple, but complicated by the fact that I only wanted a male in the group. Ha.

Just let this topic die. I'm not in the mood to write anymore...sad
