Considering Magritte's not-a-pipe is actually called "The Treachery Of Images", I would suggest moving it here and finding a random other postmodern image for the other trope.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I'm pretty sure that he's given us permission for at least one other one-panel, and in his blog post here he indicates that he doesn't mind use of thr Mayan Mayhem cartoon as long as it's linked back to his site.
Let me do some digging...
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Got it: In the IP for Artistic License – History, he gave us permission to use the Trojan Pinata.
It's certainly worth dropping him a note and asking whether we can also use the Treachery of Images.

Cool. It does make a good image for the page.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn! The Simpsons pic is great.
Yeah, copyright is okay as long as you credit the source and the source does not complain. It is not automatic grounds for removal, or rather, it should not be.

"They don't know" is most emphatically not a reason to violate a copyright and use an image without permission, if it doesn't fall under Fair Use.

I think a caption that says "This image is not by <link to the artist's site>" is hilarious, no hottip.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. How about "This is not a [linktowebsite Dan Piraro] drawing" ? Same sort of technically-true as the original — it's not a Dan Piraro drawing. It's an electronic copy of a Dan Piraro drawing.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Also phrased similarly to "this is not a pipe", I like it.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That's fine with me.
At that, we could go all the way and caption it "ceci n'est ce pas une {link Dan Piraro] cartoon" (I checked, "cartoon" is the French for "cartoon". I couldn't find what specifically was French for "drawing" in the sense of "sketched piece of artwork".)

"dessin de Piraro".
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdSo to stay as close to the original as possible it would be ""ceci n'est ce pas un dessin de [[link Dan Piraro]]"?

The comic says "this is not a pipe" in English, feel like the caption should be also.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan."n'est pas", not "n'est ce pas".
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! The original painting said "Ceci n'est pas une pipe". It's keeping with the reference to the original.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I'm not sure how much I like saying "this isn't a link to [author's site]", since, unlike the pipe, you can't really argue that it isn't a link (no, it's definitely a link; it behaves like every other link on the Internet, and if it walks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck...), or "this image isn't by [author]", since that'd be a downright lie (and sort of the reverse of what we were asked to do - even if we're still doing it in a roundabout fashion).
