I dunno. It's possible that people would confuse the trope with Fearful Symmetry.

I don't think there's any way to completely get around some overlap between the two tropes, but making sure that suggestions for Mirror Boss look like they're from video games should help.

I personally would prefer a shot of a boss fight other than Dark Link, because Dark Link is (with the exception of Link using the Hammer or stabbing him) a perfect example of Fearful Symmetry, so it would probably confuse people familiar with the work more than people unfamiliar with it.

I would prefer an example of a boss fight where the foe fights similarly to you, but doesn't copy your motions as you do them.

I don't have any image to provide, but how about Sonic vs Shadow?

I personally thign the Generations battle better shows this trope, since Shadow is not identical to Sonic (even without power cores, he can still use Chaos Spear, after all)

Sonic Vs Shadow is a good example in SA 2, as well. Or, it's fair play, anyway. Sonic has unusable powers when you play as Shadow, and vice-versa.

Wait, wasn't Ocarina's Dark Link a righty, not a lefty? Because then he really does mirror Link's movements perfectly (which is also precisely what makes that battle so difficult).

But the Sonic Generations rival battle has Shadow not require a set number of hits to defeat, unlike Metal Sonic and Silver.

He collects rings, just like Sonic (and is defeated when hit without any)

He's even picked up the boost.
