Turtle Power has the same image as Literature.Discworld. Since the picture comes from Discworld, Turtle Power should be the one to get a new picture.

...I believe duplicate images are allowed if only one of the pages is a trope page. Therefore IIRC this is allowed.

EDIT: Checked the image picking criteria thread. The post states quite explicitly that "A work and trope can have the same image but it's preferred that they be separate. "

So if you think better can be found, go ahead. Otherwise the current one is fine.

Duplicate image is not a valid reason to pull in rhia case.

That said, this trope is basically just "turtles are awesome," right? That should be easy to illustrate. How about something from the trope namer?

Oh yeah. So we do prefer separate images for the two pages. That's good. Oh, and we already have a replacement suggested in the thread, too. Let's quit the meta-argument and see if there's any other suggestions for replacements, okay?

So I attempted to find pictures. They're of varying quality and I'm not sure if all of them are available for use, but at least they're a start:

EDIT: #7 probably won't work.
My favorites are #10 and #16.

[up]That one of Ninja Turtles has a signature in the lower right, and it's likely fanart. Note the artist got their mask colors wrong. (Sorry about that, at the smaller size it just looked like a comic book panel.)

Screencaps from the movies and cartoon should be OK, though, right?

"Got their mask colors wrong"?! Thou hast incurred the wrath of nerd rage! That art is original.

  1. In the comic book, all four turtles have red headbands. The color-coding was added in the late-80s cartoon.
  2. The signature is Kevin Eastman's; he is the co-creator of TMNT.
  3. Even if it was fanart with a signature from Joe Shmoe... so what?

I was under the impression that fanart, whether on Deviantart or elsewhere, requires permission before using it. Guess I was wrong then.

They didn't. (Only sort of kidding; can tell them apart by their weapons but that is not always possible.)

The "permission" thing is accurate, but thought you meant if it has a signature it can't be used at all. Artist signatures are good.

I've seen suggestions being automatically rejected, and images auto-pulled, for having signatures.

Is there room for the fair use and permission rules on any one of those existing stickies? Or at least an Administrivia page that spells them out somewhere? I'm gettin' confuzzled.

No you haven't; those images were probably watermarked or had a copyright symbol, which merit insta-pulls (with some exceptions in the case of the ©).

And... Administrivia.About Images And Copyright. Signatures and "channel bugs" are fine, tho the latter should maybe be cropped off or painted out if possible.

I believe they were different shades of green.

BTW, there's a slight problem with the Discworld turtle — the turtle is holding up the world.

That didn't happen until later either :( And a lot of the comic art is B&W anyway.
