I'm still having even odds on Remon being an alien. Or at least knowing the secret.
I like the characters in general, it's a nice little ensemble. I'm honestly not sure how it's going to end (given the summer connotations and everything)
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntHahaha, I was actually wondering why we didn't have a thread for this, and figured people weren't just interested in discussing it.
Anyway, it's one of the greatest romance anime I've seen in a while. Mostly because the pacing is very, very good. Things progress, but not so fast that they seem rushed, and the developments do take time before their effects manifest significantly. The cast is well-characterized and more importantly easy to relate to. There's a really good balance of lighthearted funny moments and the emotionally tense ones.
Add great animation and great music (DAT ED!) to the mix, and you've got basically everything I wanna see in a romance genre work. And best of all, I'm not even sure how this will end~
Hehe this series has me watching the rest of The 'Verse again Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Speaking of that, I see no connections at all between this and the Onegai series, aside from having the same writers...
What, is a writer not allowed to write a work outside of The 'Verse after they've established one?

Some pointed out that it is more of a remake.
8thsin, the guy behind the translation of Mawaru Penguindrum, has noted some similarities to the Onegai series from his friend in his episode 1-2 follow-up.

Tea is best served with fellow monsters. | MALThe aliens seem to work by the same laws and a lot of the same things...
it is not a bad thing the series is 10 years old and this series is actually very different except for the setup and a few Expies. Morino / Remon are the biggest but also the most epic character in both series. :p
And the Seven-Year Rule seems to be in effect (this season two expies of older series are airing... this / Onegai Teacher and Smile Pretty Cure / Yes Pretty Cure 5.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Are we sure they're not the same person? The "I'm eternally 17" comment seems to imply something
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntNo, Morino was 21 but slept in stasis for like 7 years which is what gave her her look she actually was aging while awake.
And they are pretty different visually and I would put Morino as far more "Evil" than Remon especially in the Twins OAV.
I wouldn't be surprised if we do see some Onegai Teacher Characters in a passing frame or two near the end of the series hell Mizuno might help repair her ship (and find out the series are running concurrently). They already used the "Priority One" Shout-Out.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Oh it totally does, I can feel it in my gut.
I've noticed a lot of similarities between Ano Natsu and Onegai Teacher, but Ano Natsu is also quite distinctly its own thing. It's a story that uses some of the same elements but I'd argue that calling it a "remake of sorts" is pushing it.
BTW I already consider it to be the best show set in the Onegai verse even though it's not finished airing yet. XD
Since Church Street appeared at both shows, it is likely we should have some kind of cameo at the very least.
ufufufufu~

Tea is best served with fellow monsters. | MALThe "dominant" theory is that Ano Natsu de Matteru is set a few years/decades before the two Onegai shows. Everything actually fits to that theory, except for the use of CGI of modern cars. LOL Manami's car doesn't count since it's drawn, and not CGI - it actually looks like a car you would expect from the 80s, so it "fits" in the theory.
- pictures are "developed", not printed (i.e. film is used)
- absence of mobile phones
- only landline phones are present
- the video camera they use (Kaito's camera) is also film-based
Kaito's camera is stated to be very old.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Yes, most probably a 60s camera. The theory puts the setting in the 1980s at the earliest. Especially because there's an F-15 model kit already.

I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.So apparently Lemon's line about being eternally seventeen is an inside joke of sorts.
It is a shoutout to the Eternal Seventeen thing that some Seiyuu's say as a handwave out of stating their age and avoiding Christmas Cake.
Yukari Tamura (Remon's Seiyuu [1]) is one of those who does that. (The one who started it was Kikuko Inoue aka Mizuno.)
Yukari also did Morino in teacher and twins.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Episode 9: I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO FEEL DAMMIT
On the other hand, good going Kaito and Ichika! Show those other romance anime who's boss! And Lemon too for being so awesomely supportive!
Glad to see the alien thing didn't turn out to be such a big deal.
Given that we have at least one or two episodes left I wonder what will happen. And we have at least one more love triangle to resolve.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntANN has twelve eps.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Her sister appears! And she's pink haired! And just like Onegai Teacher, the pairings looks like done now.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over. This could be called Epic Confessions: The Anime.
Kanna's was so heartfelt and enthusiastic I couldn't help but smile.
In other news, Kaito and Ichika are giving me diabetes.
Yes, they really are.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntIt's kind of funny how (with the calendar) we can now firmly place the show as set in 2011. And yet it somehow doesn't feel like it's set in the present day, given how there's been an obvious lack of cellphones or, heck, any kind of digital media over the past nine episodes.
I think we can just attribute that to being too lazy to look up old calendars for something most viewers won't care to notice.
Maybe because they're at the countryside? It's just like in Hanasaku Iroha...
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura Chifuyu
I am amazed this work has gone under the radar of the forum. Am I the only one watching this work?
Nevertheless, this original anime is created by the same guy who did Ano Hana and a work that cannot be said to me face-to-face. It is considered a semi-remake of Onegai Teacher, having a ton of parallels and similarities to the older works.
While I had not watched Onegai Teacher or Onegai Twins, the work is intriguing because of the premise: let's make a film! Think Haruhi's season 2's filmmaking arc done better. There's also some clever twists to the conventions of the romance slice-of-life genre.
Like Ano Hana, the characters are the one to look out at. Currently, Remon (nipah~) and Kanna are my favorite characters for their interesting relationship proximity with everyone.
And good god, that ED! It isn't as good as Ano Hana's, but it's still damn good.
A JC Staff work that might be good? Oh dear!
