Hmm, to me, a "Widget Series" sounds like one that pretends to be interactive (like a fake video game or something) through the use of Graphical User Interface elements
. Of course, the most common definition of "widget" is "random component used in manufacturing". And there's actually a TV show named Widget, according to the other wiki. The slang use mentioned here is not something I've heard or can find through searching. I don't think it's "spread across the Internet" as far as some people might think.
