4 panel > last two panels > single panel for me.

[up] I'm in the same opinion. The reason why the image caught my attention, is because of the excellent lampshading in the first two panels, complementing perfectly the "GLARE" panel and the panel where the guy is scared by the glare.

I would rather we just use the glare panel. Simpler is better.
This. The dialogue could provide the corresponding page quotation instead.

So we can put how many panels in a crowner.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Single panel all the way. The other four panels are completely unnecessary and just detract from it. You don't need the whole background story, you just need a good death glare, and the third panel provides.

The other panels add that the glare is supposed to be scary. Not, say, an annoyed glare. Two?

[up] I prefer the face more prominent and closer to the text on that image.

The consensus seems to be for some arrangement of the OP's suggestion, be that one, two, or four panels. Personally I'd like more than just the glare part, since the dialogue does add to it.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

Alright, it's been a week and the crowner's pretty clear about which version's preferred. Now, my question is: is the manga pic better than the current? I took another look at the definition last night, and now I'm questioning how well the manga panels actually fit the trope.

Taking another look at it myself... yes, it still fits. I mean, sure, it's in the context of a fight, but the trope definition doesn't exclude that scenario, that I can tell.

This needs to be moved on...I'll go ahead and switch the pics around. If anyone has an issue, they can start a new thread.

EDIT: Done; locking up.
