Yeah, saw this page from the "Source?" thread and thought something similar: that's terrible.

Shouldn't there only be two cops? Why are there like 20?

Agree with pull.

The name implies it's a duo but it's not, it's about cops being depicted as dirty and stupid, like on The Simpsons. Bad name also maybe.

(Image is still bad, "looking dumb" isn't the same as "dumb and corrupt".)

Meh, these look definitively not competent, albeit not corrupt.

You know, there really should be a requirement for someone claiming that the picture doesn't illustrate the trope to explain what they think the trope means, and exactly why they think it fails to illustrate the trope, because I see some comments and image suggestions here that clearly illustrate that people are not bothering to read the article, and that makes me wonder if the OP even did.

" Bad Cop/Incompetent Cop describes an entire precinct (or world!) where police are monolithically terrible. Maybe they're all corrupt. Maybe just a few are corrupt, but the rest are so incompetent that they completely ignore the swath of abuse, violence, and destruction the corrupt cops leave. Maybe they're all just completely insane."

Shouldn't there only be two cops? Why are there like 20? Agree with pull.

Read the article before you express an opinion on it. This isn't about a pair of cops. It is about a whole precinct or more worth of cops. So 20 is about right.

How about this image of Chief Wiggum caught in a hot dog machine◊?

Read the article before you express an opinion on it. One bad cop does not this trope make.

Alright, how's this: The trope is about cops who are incompetent, crooked, or both, and usually a lot of them at once. All the current pic is is a bunch of Russian police officers (at least, I assume that's who they are, judging by the caption) with various facial expressions that make them look bad. It's a poor attempt at illustration, and it doesn't clearly demonstrate the trope at all.

Or, you know, the OP, which said the same thing in about a third the words.

What I see is a bunch of police officers looking unprofessional and wearing their uniforms wrong, which ties into the incompetent part.

It illustrates the trope. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

How are they wearing their uniforms wrong?

They look like ordinary people in snapshots, not models carefully posed. How does that make them look unprofessional?

The headgear is way off kilter for most of them, for one thing.

And the facial expressions don't seem fit, at least to me.

...which suits me well enough, although just the current pic going away and no replacement would suit me as well.

Clock's up. I'm pulling the Wiggum pic as it wasn't decided on in here for sure and the trope goes further than just him. Locking up.
