I went ahead and put it back up with a notice stating that threads should be made before removing images. However, since someone seems to take issue with it, I figured I might as well make a thread.

My opinion is that it's not the best image but it gets the trope across. Alternate suggestions are most welcome.

Strange. The troper who removed it knows the image pickin' etiquette.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested for me.

It was deleted by rodneyAnonymous.

However the image is complete crap imo however a thread should have been made.

[up][up] That's not any better than the current one. And probably worse since it's actually Made of Iron.

(As long as it's not "literally" Made of Iron.)

Suggested image doesn't quite fit, as it only shows the aftermath. No One Could Survive That! usually places more emphasis on the supposed "fatal" attack, with the survival being a foregone conclusion.

Yeah, the Rakan one would be better if we could see just what it was that he survived.

That image relies very strongly on speech bubbles whose text is so small it's nearly illegible. It's busy and unclear what's happening, especially in the first frame, which is useless other than its text. It treats No-One Could Have Survived That like a throwaway line, not a stock phrase that virtually guarantees that yes, they will. (Writers very often put that in the dialog if the character is going to come back, almost never when they're really dead.) I think it's much worse than nothing. I deleted a bad image and don't apologize for it, I still think it's terrible. (Also, did that on 1/22, probably wouldn't today.)

It was not a spoiler or NWS so there was no reason to pull it without a thread. I agree that it's a weak image but that is no reason to skirt basic etiquette.

That action was taken before insta-pull standards changed drastically.

Merely depicting an example of the trope was not considered acceptable.

Pulling images without discussion has always been frowned on though

The new image suggested is a Worf Barrage, not this trope. The current image is even worse. Vote to pull. rodney Anonymous made the right call in the first place.

Not only is it a terrible image, it's actually misleading. It's not even close to what the trope is about.

I'd be happy to pull it, since it makes it look like the trope is just about the phrase. (And That's Terrible)

Not the greatest picture (It's closer to a lampshade-hanging than an actual example) and it overlaps a little bit with Never Found the Body, (though it fits this trope more) but I do think it's at least better than the other 2 options.

Visuals don't add much (it would work just as well as a quote), and yeah, it is closer to Never Found the Body

It's really not. Never Found the Body is "A character is Killed Off for Real and assumed by all other characters to be dead, but the death occurs in such a way that no body is recovered." Totally different from what they're talking about in the image. It's just easy to assume that it has to do with that trope because they happen to be talking about a body not being found.

It does fit this trope though. "The pursuers then give up the chase, confident that their quarry has effectively committed suicide, and never go look for the body to make sure. Of course, the moment someone says this, they've guaranteed that the person in question not only has survived, but will be coming back to spoil someone's day."

Edit: though it does fit Not Quite Dead more.

I pulled that image. It is illegible enough to be more harm than good.
