Eurgh, that pic's bad, bad, bad.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.What are we looking for, then?
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.A comic or something illustrating it would probably be ideal.
Probably the only good thing about the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie was the portrayal of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Will see if there is a good frame of him talking to himself in a mirror.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Actually, she is talking to herself. The scene makes that more clear, but her mouth is clearly open in that image.
Maybe a different frame with her mouth more open would make that more apparent?
Moon◊It is hard to see her reflection there... Improve that and I would be fine with that.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Considering this is a trope about split personalities we need something that shows that. The current pic looks like Thinking Out Loud.
Motion to pull on grounds that it could be misleading
Disagree. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Moon◊Here's a pic of Twilight actually looking like she's talking to herself.
I can infer it, but it's not as obvious as I'd like it to be, honestly.
I figured that would be a better alternative. I originally thought about capping a point where her mouth is wide open, but it looked too much like she was just staring at her reflection with her mouth agape. In the above screen, her mouth at least looks like it's forming a word.
Maybe add two more shots - one from below with her talking to the puddle assertively, one from above with her reflection looking like she's about to cry (ideally talking if there's a shot of that, I forget the exact sequence), and then 's image?

Moon◊Best I could do.
I like the single frame better.
Rhymes with "Protracted."If this is about the split-personality version, how about a side-by-side of that Gollum v. Smeagle debate?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Current image is Keep Until Better Image Suggested, but we could definitely do better. Smeagol/Gollum is the obvious thought, but I'm not sure how well that would translate into a still image.
Reaction Image RepositoryGollum vs. Smeagol might work better but I don't know if it's any more picturable
Gollum/Smeagol would probably be even more difficult to portray, since I don't recall any direct conversations between them. The only indication of either given personality is camera angle and facial expression.
The trope itself is hard to sum up in one image, especially a still-image.
Is there a trope specifically for when a character has a conversation with his reflection? Or is that just a subset of this trope?
Belief or disbelief rests with you. What about Norman Osborn talking to the Green Goblin in the first Spiderman movie? That one shows him talking to himself in the mirror for most of the scene.

I'm cool with the pony pic, but maybe a two panel version of the pony pic (three is a bit much) would be better, and a caption would really help.
I uspport the Jekyll-Hyde image.
...Well I pretty much HAVE to, it's that or something that I will never support without something being terribly wrong with me.

Crown Description:
Deciding which version of the Dr Mc Ninja pic to use.
It's a horse looking at a puddle. Not exactly what we're looking for.
