Opened this because we don't appear to have a thread for this subject and I reckon it'll see use, but please include some actual content in your opening posts in future if you don't want them to get rejected.

This will be good so we don't have to create a new thread every playoff season.

Bobby is essentially asking you to start an actual conversation, rather than simply doing a "here's one so we've got it when we need it" type of thing. Chatter generally belongs in Yack Fest.

Today's starter: are they ever going to decide on the future of the Wild Card? A lot of people want it but no one can make a decision.

[up][up] I'll keep that in mind next time.

[up] If they were to add more teams to the playoffs, it would help other teams become more competitive.

I wish they'd make up their minds about it though. This season is already looking screwy due to teams not knowing what to expect, especially some of the moves made. (Marlins and Angels, anyone?)

I believe the Mets are royally screwed (especially after the Bernie Madoff thing)

I just hope that the Nationals get somewhere close to .500 this year.

Because we all know that the Orioles are not going to do that.

That won't be easy. The Marlins made big money moves, the Phillies are still the NL team to beat, and the Braves haven't stopped being a playoff threat. The NL East is going to be a rough division this year, barring weirdness.

The Marlins will probably be like the Texas Rangers from several years back: you think you have the pieces but the jigsaw simply doesn't fit.

Which is too bad since one of their acquisitions, Mark Buehrle, was playing like a borderline Hall of Famer (two no-hitters including a perfect game, a World Series ring and several seasons as a high-quality AL pitcher) until the last few seasons.

I think the Angels are gonna be a decent team now that they got Albert Pujols.

This is the year the Pirates end the streak, they nearly did it last year until that fucking game in Atlanta jinxed it! (Dumb fucking ump!) But yeah the young core is more experienced so I expect the Pirates to finish around above .500.

Looks like we're getting the extra playoff berth this year after all. Not that his makes everyone happy.

I'm not really a baseball fan, I mean I'll maybe watch an important game once in a while, but I will admit that Game 6 of the 2011 World Series was one of the greatest games in sports that I have ever witnessed. How do you get to 2 outs, 2 strikes, 3 balls, down by two, and one final swing twice in one game, and still manage to pull out the victory? I mean I started watching it just to see if Texas would win their first WS, but after seeing the Cards come back the first time in that game, I was rooting for them the whole rest of the way.

Meh, I'm not the biggest fan of that sort of thing. While it makes for a great story, it raises the question of how good your team is if you let the other team get within one pitch of winning it (multiple times, in this case). It's kind of the classic maxim: when you win, you win.
