I like the LOTR painting and Napoleon/Josephine best.
I like Napoleon and the first Pahlavi. It's hard to get more elaborate and ostentatious than those outfits.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. That version is alright...I played with cropping it and it's a little clearer if it's cropped to the staff of the guy behind Napoleon and the edge of the tray the guy is carrying on the left side.
Napoleon pic looks too cluttered and obscure resized. I like the Jesus one the best.
Who's he supposed to be crowning, though? I'd much prefer an actual coronation, fictional or not. Gimme a sec and I'll do a crop of the Napoleon one.
EDIT: Here we go.

Yeah, I would go with LOTR or Jesus simply because, Napolean being Napolean, the scenes of him hardly seem to fulfill the awesome part. On the other hand, I really detest that LOTR painting (only certain people should be allowed to illustrate those books because they should really not look that ugly and cartoony).
I also dislike that LOTR artwork. I think it's by the Hildebrant brothers.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Yeah, I hate their stuff. The only illustrations I like are the ones by Alan Lee. Unfortunately his crowning scene is hard to make out because the crown he drew blends in with the sky. I'll link when I find it again.
See, this◊ is way better, to me at least, than the Hildebrandt brothers one, but I understand it would not work as a page image since the crown blends into the background. Sorry for the aside, but LOTR is dear to my heart. I am a fan of the first pic suggested by the OP.
I love the knickers off The Lord Of The Rings as well but that doesn't mean it's better as a trope image.
EDIT: Spoilt for choice now: 1◊ 2◊ 3◊
There's some more here but there's only tiny differences.

Absolutely, and for that very reason I was not suggesting it as a page image. I was simply offering the Alan Lee painting as something of an aside to contrast it with the Hildebrant brothers one to show my dislike of their image on artistic merits. Their characters are too pudgy and often cliched.
Also I like number 2 in your post. Perhaps resized like so.

Fair enough/good point (upon re-reading your post I think I misunderstood/misread it at some point, but never mind) and very nice.
Whichever wins the spot, Image Links is going to be packed.
If we go with the Napoleon picture, then we should find another one for the Napoleon Bonaparte page (not that there wouldn't be plenty of options there as well). If we don't go for that one, I think we should move the cropped Napoleon picture to that page.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Napoleon's page should have that pic of him standing with his hand in his coat, anyway...that pic's ridiculously shrunk down. I'm not where I can start the thread right now but anyone that wants to start a thread for that page, go for it.

Enough images for a crowner?
FYI, I have no idea how to make a crowner. *searches*
Bookmark this link (perhaps called IP Crowner), replace the last XXX with the trope name, profit. Add some options (optional). Post link and holler for hook.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Aw, thanks, chicken. I couldn't find that at all.
Crowner which should have all of the suggestions.
Crowner's hooked.
Bump for votes; right now movie!Aragorn's the only one in the green.
Alright, this one's ready to call. The new pic is up in place of the old, the page is tagged, and I moved the page quote to the caption since they come from the same source. Locking up.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
We can easily do better.
Suggestions (NB: These would all need cropping and/or resizing):
There's a good amount of coronation pictures around, most of them nicer than the current one (that's not bad, just could be better).
