So I can't do what I was hoping and have the Church be a factor in the Holy Grail War with a group partially made up of Biblical or heavily-associated-with-Christianity Servants. Shame XD

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Sorry for the double post but I wonder what could be an alternative in that case...
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Best you can do is have a a team of Church-sympathetic Spell Casters/Bounty Hunters act as hired hands for them.
I did come up with one alternative: A mana reactor that all of them are bound to.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.So, I started updating Remnants of Fate again (a crossover with RWBY) and it's made me kinda hate the Fate fandom. In the chapter I uploaded just yesterday, Shirou got hit in the face with two missiles and was knocked out as a result and I've had three different people complain about that. I've also received countless complaints about Shirou not just going full god mode and shitstomping absolutely everyone despite me stating in the very first chapter that I buffed everyone else to prevent exactly that (since it would be incredibly boring if Shirou was a God-Mode Sue). And this is despite the fact that I've had Shirou constantly outperforming literally everyone.
Seriously, fuck the Fate fandom's broken perception of Shirou due to the countless fics where he's basically God. I'm aware that these are just a Vocal Minority but fuck them anyway.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!People seem to think that just because he becomes a Servant after his death that he's amazing at everything. He's still a complete and utter mediocre mage that only has one bit of magecraft to his name and in most routes only survives by the skin of his teeth.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Not to mention the fact that he only becomes a Counter Guardian because he made a contract with Alaya and that EMIYA is a pretty garbage Servant (seriously, he only wins one fight in all of the original VN and that fight was heavily stacked in his favor).
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Nah, EMIYA's actually pretty good, I'd say. Caladbolg's pretty powerful, to say nothing of Unlimited Blade Works, plus he's quite competent in close combat which is something that very few Archers can boast about.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Guy still loses all but one fight that he's in.
Honestly, the worst ones aren't those guys. The worst ones are the people who call Shirou weak for having PTSD after having all of his loved ones die in his arms and being forced to kill Saber (who he was also in love with).
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I think Adaptational Badass is fine every once in a while, but most fanfics about Shirou are exactly that. Especially crossovers. This and general overlap of other shonen fans causes the petulance you saw in your reviews section when they didn't get their fix.
I do like that you made the RWBY characters stronger, because Heroes, Dreams, and Destiny shows what happens when you don't.

Yeah, even without Adaptational Badass, a post-HGW Shirou in RWBY would likely end with Shirou curbstomping most things (depending on the events of the Grail War). Shirou effortlessly solving everything would get boring very quickly.
It's a shame, really. Shirou's often at his best when he's struggling. He was very much the underdog in FSN and only managed to come out on top through his unique character traits. That's one of the reasons I buffed everyone in RWBY and why I have Shirou just make bad choices every now and then that are logical for him to make.
On a related topic, that's my biggest complaint for Fate/in time. As much as I enjoy that story, Shirou is so overwhelmingly powerful and skilled that I have no idea how anyone is supposed to pose even the slightest threat to him. He's been bathed in the blood of a dragon and now is not only night invulnerable, he also has a magical core; he's the son of a Fire Elemental; he has a Shadow Elemental living in UBW that's super loyal to him; he has a family crest that's crazy powerful; he can project Excalibur; he's almost always making the right decisions; he has a phantasmal beast as a pet; he has one of the Anchors inside his soul; and he can use the First Magic.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Parcasious likes to stack power-up after power up on Shirou, I've heard. Someone on the internet actually made a comment to the tune of "I miss when Shirou was just a God" over one of his more infamous fanfics.
I had the gall to call Archer a garbage Servant in my latest author's note and the amount of butthurt rage I'm getting is hilarious.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Archer as in EMIYA?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Of course.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Tons of people mistake versatility as an equalizer to raw power. Archer gets by because he's a good planner, but a lot of people make the leap that this lets him overpower many Servants he can't realistically defeat.
I think the visual novel made that clear, but it's not always obvious in the anime adaptations. Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] Abridged emphasized it a bit more in the first fight against Lancer, when Archer flat-out told Rin he couldn't win and they needed to get the hell out of there.
Besides, Weak, but Skilled is more fun to watch than Strong and Skilled anyway (though watching the heroes curbstomp the enemy does have its place).

A recent, handy video that explains why people probably overrate Archer and ignore context (not that this guy does those things).
A random thought crossed my mind, while looking at a OC-story in-writing.
The hypothetical concept, in regards to a Caster of the modern era.
"Caster of the Atom" (J.Robert Oppenheimer)
A man forever carved into human history as the creator of the one weapon that could actually destroy the world if ever used.
Brought forth by a broken grail.
A servant that, when speaking, only speaks in old time radio-voice due to his throat cancer having destroy his human vocal chords and appears as a figure in black-and-white as if seen through a old-time television.
Attacks through splitting the atom of anything he can hit.
His NP: "I've become death" = A nuclear-bomb, with a finger-snap as the detonator.
...
Just a random thought.
... That made me imagine a diffrent version of Oppenheimer. As a Pseudo-Servant, possessed by Shiva, the Hindu Destroyer Deity, due to how he got famous quote of "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds" from the Hindu scripture Bahagavad Gita. Like Waver and Zhuge Liang, Shiva largely leaves the reins of control to Oppenheimer, curious to see what the mortal will do with so much power at his fingertips. He qualifies for both the Archer class (wielding a pinaka) and Lancer class (wielding a trishula).
Oppenheimer's NP is a variation of Shiva's own signature NP, "Bhairava Pashupatastra", manifesting as a Gate of Babylon-style ability to summon anything that has ever been used either as a nuke or to carry/deliver a nuke to its target (including ones that theoretically could be repurposed/improvised into such a role) since Oppenheimer's time and until the "present" time period of his summoning (i.e. late 2010s in FGO), with the nukes causing literal magic-powered nuclear explosions. All of the objects summoned by Bhairava Pashupatastra manifest as demonic-looking, ambiguous biomechanical constructs, and he can more or less mix-and-match design elements to create "new" designs. He personally favors summoning the Bocksar and Enola Gay out of nostalgia, though they're far from the most powerful weapons in his arsenal.
Thanks to influence from Shiva's power over all things destruction and annihilation, Oppenheimer can scale down such magic-nukesplosions to the point where he can actually use them as "normal" attacks (in form of "micro-missiles/bombs"), allowing him to fight effectively without putting his Master, comrades and even himself in unnecessary harm. The full-power manifestation of the NP creates a cataclysmic nuclear explosion with a destructive force equal at minimum to 5×10^16 megatonsnote .
For a visual description of what I envision Bhairava Pashupatastra would look like in FGO, picture Oppenheimer dragging the enemies into a Reality Marble-like subspace, followed by a swarm of nuclear warhead-tipped missiles and artillery shells along with nuclear bombers and ballistic missile submarines performing an Alpha Strike on the enemy, before the view shifts to Oppenheimer himself on the back of a massive, diabolical-looking B-2 Spirit that dive-bombs from the stratosphere towards the enemy to launch a single nuclear bomb at high velocity (with him saying his famous Catchphrase), with the explosion shattering the fake Earth, before Oppenheimer and the enemy zip back to the normal world. I imagine that in story mode, he'd have a moment where he pulls a Heroic Sacrifice against a boss by ramming the B-2 Spirit into it (after avoiding its attempts to shoot him down) rather than risk it evading or prematurely destroying the bomb.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Shut up and take my money you brilliant bastard. Bonus points if he has special dialogue with Chaldea's version of Altjuna. Bonus bonus points if Parvati pouts about not getting to spend time with her husband and son because the latter's host is trying to hide with Osakabehime.
Regardless of your opinion of the last American election, we can all agree on one thing- The Chinese Communist Party can choke on scrotes!Hope I'm not necro-ing, but I need a little clarification.
For context, I recently got struck with an idea for, shall we say, a Holy Grail War involving elites and royals only.
I'm just confused about the Nasuverse's magic system, specifically for humans.
I know "humans=magecraft, Servants=magic" is the rule of thumb, but how exactly do humans do their magecraft? Do they use the ambient mana of the world? The "od" or whatever stored in them? Draw from items a la Relics from MCU's Doctor Strange? Is the stuff performing the deed called "magical energy" even though magecraft technically is just an imitation of magic according to lore?
It's not like I want to do anything complicated. Just "this guy manipulates ice," "this girl likes Mind Rape and More than Mind Control," and "this guy uses Razor Wind and Razor Wire." I just want to get my facts straight, but the Nasuverse can be pretty... obtuse at times.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.Mages perform by drawing on the energy from within, using their Magic Circuits. They use incantations via latin chanting and the like, the rule being the longer the incantation the more powerful the spell. The other rule there is that having a magic crest allows for a shortcut with how long you need to incant before you cast a magecraft spell, because the older the magic crest the more magic circuits from a mage families past generation are stored inside it. The more circuits, the more powerful a magus generally speaking. There's also things like circuit quality but honestly that doesn't matter for what you need for a fanfic.
Church magecraft is based on teachings from the Bible
The spells enacted by schools with little faith and small foundations will be weak, and it’s not uncommon for them to stop functioning completely in foreign countries.
The magical theory with the largest, most widespread “foundation” is the Church’s teachings of the Lord, the logos. Though its physical interference power is feeble, its effect on spiritual bodies is tremendous.
Kirei having Magic Circuits was to reward Risei's piety, doesn't seem like a normal phenomenon (Sancraid Phain also has circuits but he's such a cipher it's hard to say if that's indicative of the church or not)
anyway if you're writing about the Church, might as well bring up the Ash Lock◊, a Church weapon that's relatively new (introduced in El-Melloi Case Files) as the intended commonplace weapon which are BIBLE GAUNTLETS
