Assassin Arturia could be summoned by a remnant of her invisibility cloak. Yes, she had one.

Just like she can probably be summoned as Lancer via a piece of Rhoyingananana's haft, I bet.

Random idea: the oft-mentioned Arturia Grail war, where everyone is Arturia. The twist is Caster is actually her sister Morgaine le Fay, who is of COURSE a Saberface. She wins because all the other Arturia's are angsting about being a bad king, so she sort of just walks over to Kirei, punches him for the grail and wins by default...

Medea tried that in canon.

Look what it got her.

Yes, but she'd have 6 older sisters to back her up.

It's not a matter of firepower, it's a matter of facts. Kotomine doesn't have the Lesser Grail. That's why Medea couldn't find it after she took over the church despite tearing the place apart. The Lesser Grail of the 5th HGW is Illya who has no reason to go to the church.

Also, the Lesser Grail isn't capable of anything if it doesn't have power and the only way to give it power that's actually worth something is by killing a Servant.

Which absolutely NONE OF THE SERVANTS WOULD KNOW ABOUT, so it wouldn't matter regarding their actions.

Emphasis mine.

Even setting the location of the Lesser Grail aside, she should know how the Grail works. Medea certainly did.

Maybe not. Morgaine is only Age of Knights old. Medea was Age of Gods. Cu certainly didn't know, and he certainly predated Arturia, and was trained in Magic, even if he wasn't a Caster in that incarnation.

I'd have to watch the scene again to know for certain but I believe Medea said that she knew how the Grail worked because she was a Caster-class Servant.

Although I can't fully remember and I'm too lazy to hunt down the scene.

Hmm... It's possible. Gille never showed any indication it worked like that for him, but then again, he had his own priorities.

So...I may be new to this franchise by way of Fate Zero (and I'm uncertain as to whether I'll go beyond that), but I had an idea for a Servant that I think is pretty great, and I'd like to share it here.

I'll confess I don't know all the details of Servants in regards to statistics and stuff like that, but I think I can at least come up with a very brief outline.

So...

Scheherazade, from One Thousand and One Nights, a Caster. Even in relation to other Casters, she's rather weak for the most part, and her Noble Phantasm is extremely difficult to use. However, if it is successfully used, it's one of the most powerful, and could severely debilitate the likes of even Artoria and Gilgamesh, if not kill them outright.

Basically, it contains every story ever written at the time of summoning, and she can recite all of them, and can impose them onto reality. In particular, reciting a passage related to Battle of Camlann would severely weaken Artoria.

The trick is figuring out which passage to use for each situation, and reciting it in full without dying. Naturally, this would require a great deal of strategy.

So...thoughts? This hasn't been done before, has it?

Ooh, nice idea. I keep forgetting she exists, until a few years have passed and I'm reminded of her existence. Though if it were me, I'd make her ability a Charm Person thing, since in the framing device (she is essentially a framing device), the stories were meant to get the sultan so interested in the story he'd hold off her execution for another day. So maybe she tells stories, and in the process of doing so implants a subliminal suggestion that's good for only 24 hours.

I'd compare her to Caster's William Shakespeare, Hans Christian Andersen, and Alexander Dumas, who are all three Caster-class Servants because of the stories they told.

Sounds like she even could be worked into a Ruler, in that basically her function is to dictate and steer the course of the 'story', not to mention she is technically a Queen after all.

Though for some reason, all the canonical Ruler's so far have been Christian saints, or in the case of Amakusa Shiro, sorta.

[up][up][up][up] That's not a bad idea. Though I did basically want to make her the ultimate incarnation of Difficult, but Awesome, so I don't know. (Also, while I like Gilgamesh, I really like the idea of him being utterly humiliated by a girl with no fighting skills whatsoever).

That said, I think she'd have a much harder time with someone like, say, Ching Shih, A.K.A. one of the most successful pirates in history, if not the most successful. She was never defeated, and in fact only ended her career when the Chinese Government offered amnesty to all pirates. She retired with all her loot, opened a gambling house, and lived for 34 more years. In short, not someone who can be shut down with stories of her horrible demise.

An alternative is that she can become anyone in her stories to a limited extent. So, say she turns into all 40 thieves...

I imagine she could probably do a lot of things with it. Again, the trick is achieving the desired effect.

New random thought: she's like Nursery Rhyme, and is not really Scherazade but the 1001 Stories of Scherazade using her form, as she is the storyteller most closely associated with them. She is basically the anthropomorphic personification of filler stories deliberately made to take up time while still being interesting. So in the modern world, she has the power of the Bleach, One Piece, Naruto and Fairy Tail filler episodes....waii

The horror...

Seriously, though, the intent here is to create a Servant whose powers are extremely difficult to use, but incredibly broken when pulled off correctly.

Difficult, but Awesome is a label that applies to many servants' powers.

Not everyone is a straightforward nuker like Artoria.

[up][up] Wouldn't know - only familiar with Fate Zero. But I figured the best way to do it would be one of the first characters to demonstrate the power of storytelling.

[up] I know, but I guess I kind of just fell in love with this idea.

to be fair to karkat, they did say that Zero was their main foray into Fate, so i guess that wouldnt be common knowledge to them

[nja]

edit: hey karkat if you wanna now how many servants are in the fate series just check out all the sub pages here

and they dont even have some servants from other spinoff media yet

the fact that you chose a character not yet servantized is amazing
