Hello there!

I'll be blunt, I normally don't do this, trying to push my stuff in a forum like this, but once won't hurt anyone.

What I'm posting here is my Magnum Opus regarding software piracy and gaming. An essay about my own personal experiences regarding this. And, I just felt like sharing it here. If anyone feels it shouldn't be here, get rid of it, it's ok :)

In any cases, here's the work in question.

Read the whole thing, good read. It seems like such a hassle for something that oftentimes seems to be a gamble or more trouble then its worth.

Was a good read. I noticed some typos and a couple areas where something didn't sound right, but you're from Chile, so I'm guessing English isn't your first language.

Mind you, it's not always costly to pirate. It might be where you live, but PC piracy and some console piracy is pretty much free after an initial investment of, like, $20. Not advocating piracy, but your essay doesn't necessarily stand as a good argument for the whole issue.

PC Piracy is completely free. And sometimes it's even more convenient. I've pirated games after I already bought them, for example. It's worth noting that even when developers offered a "pay what you like" model where you can buy it for as little as 1 cent, people still pirated it more often than not. It's not about "saving money" so much as an emotional reaction to paying anything at all. And/or the inconvenience of having to set up a Pay Pal account or whatever.

I can see where this is coming from although I must add that the Gamecube had as many issues unmodded as it was modded.

Yeah. Console piracy may be a bit more of an issue outside North America and Europe but the kind of piracy everyone is clamoring about is PC, movie and music piracy, not so much console stuff.
